Your ‘day to day’

The Manager, Sustainability Communications contributes to and implements the PMI’s agreed plans for constructive engagement with external media and business partners. This role is based in our Operations Center, in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In this role, you will
  • Develop and deploy strategic, integrated communications plans for the Sustainability team, working to best position the company’s approach to sustainability to external media/stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage budgets, scopes of work and resources in support of Sustainability communications.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional GC teams to implement global campaigns/projects, working with vendors, consultants, and senior internal stakeholders to manage key initiatives and projects
  • Provide recommendations and counsel to the Sustainability team, working closely with our Chief Sustainability Officer, on all external communications initiatives, inclusive of speaking opportunities, media interviews, report launches, byline creation and deployment and beyond.
  • Activate internal stakeholders to support and deliver key initiatives and programs (i.e. Integrated Report), providing briefings and guidance to deliver project results, liaising with colleagues across the business to extend awareness and reach of our sustainability strategy.
  • Deliver/execute on the strategic plans and programming, often working across functions and group to build consensus and approvals, and to broaden the awareness of the Sustainability activities within the company and beyond as a representation of PMI’s active transformation.
  • Provide strategic corporate communications counsel and execution with external audiences, namely media. Offer guidance to internal stakeholders on the role corporate communications and provide counsel and support to them in this function.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sustainability and Finance teams on building the right kind of messaging (in terms of content, tone, and desired audience) to maximize the value and reach of our sustainability strategy.
  • Manage contact with external agencies, providing guidance and feedback to best support the business objectives and corporate narrative.
Your profile
  • University degree in related field
  • Experience in communications, ideally with experience in corporate communications and/or sustainability (either in-house or agency experience)
  • Demonstration of experience within the Sustainability sector (environmental, social and/or operational)
  • Experience working on public policy issues for a major corporation, international organization, and/or national government
  • Creative and a strong problem solver, with long term vision and perseverance
  • Good project management skills with dedication to follow-through and getting things done.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communications skills
  • High attention to detail and standards coupled with very good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Team player; able to build excellent professional working relationships with peers and management in a multilingual and multicultural environment
