Marketing Intern – International

This internship is an exciting opportunity based at the International office supporting the sustained growth of Alexion in its core indications & expansion into new therapy areas. This role will report into one of the therapeutic area Leads, International.

This internship position will be an integral part of the International Commercial team and will work in close collaboration with the members of the cross-functional team in order to achieve the learning objectives and deliverables. The individual will contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of this dynamic team and will be expected to be an excellent team player, collaborator and apply analytical skills and thinking to both day-to-day operations and innovative projects.

In particular, the Marketing Intern, international will support the Disease Leads drive the International Marketing strategies and execute selected brand tactics.


You will be responsible for:

  • Execute selected activities of the 2023 International tactical plan
  • Support the planning and execution of our key international congresses. Manage internal approval and budgeting process related to congress activities under the supervision of Disease Leads
  • International disease commercial materials, including development, approvals and roll-out of commercial materials
  • Collaborate with digital team on promotion of website (e.g., update of website contents, banner ad, media campaign, analytics) and other digital initiatives
  • Supports disease leads on the coordination and management of internal meetings and internal communications campaign (e.g., Workplace)
  • Directly manages vendors, executes logistics, develops contents and communicates with all stakeholders
  • Ensure full compliance of all projects and initiatives led with internal SOPs/policies and external reporting obligations

The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the above mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.


You will need to have:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required with a preference in a scientific area
  • MBA or other business education is preferred
  • Fluency in English both written and oral mandatory, fluency in other languages is a plus
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter, willing and able to utilize initiative
  • Ability to deliver on time to agreed deadlines
  • Understands when to seek help/advice

Learning Objectives:

  • As a result of the internship the individual should understand:
    • the specificities of a patient centric organization and the rare disease business
    • the process of developing and executing a strategic and tactical plan
    • how to manage a project with the input of a cross- functional team
    • how to manage external vendors
    • how to plan & execute a major congress
    • the role of a regional organization
