Summary
Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, this role is responsible for effective and efficient material storage and movement in service of Supply Chain’s overall goals of delivering customer orders on time and in full safely and in compliance with Quality standards. The role includes handling material in the warehouse through receiving, shipping and/or organizing material in the warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Carries out material handling duties in accordance with Quality standards
- Receiving responsibilities may include unloading, inspecting, checking weights, sampling, recording, locating inventory and bulk unloading
- Shipping responsibilities may include expediting products, planning shipments, pulling product, loading trucks, preparing documentation, calling transport companies and communicating shortages
- Warehousing responsibilities may include wrapping product, locating and/or storing product, delivering product and bag dump, transferring material/finished goods from bagging and/or bakeries into inventory
- Communicate with previous and next shift to ensure a smooth handoff
- Follows material movement practices and ensures all movement is accurately captured in the system
- Looks for ways to improve the process and work environment and helps implement the improvements through the Supply Chain One Kaizen A Month program
- Operates in a safe manner at all time and reports hazards in a timely manner
- Understands and follows all security, HACCP, GMP, and BRC policies and procedures
- Follows company Food Safety Policy and ensures compliance to all Food Safety requirements
- Assists in other functions relating to department needs when necessary
- High school diploma
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is considered an asset
- Physical requirements: requires lifting of up to 40 kg on a regular basis
- Valid license to operate a forklift
- Ability to communicate effectively and pay close attention to detail
- Works cooperatively with others on the team and other departments
- Ability to work occasional weekends and holidays
- Acts with a clear sense of ownership, that is, takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions, and failures
- Shows personal commitment and acts to continuously improve
