We search for a Materials Manager (f/m/d) - preferably with packaging industry experience. The role is based in Zug, Switzerland and reports to our Director Supply Planning, Ardagh Metal Packaging - Europe.

Your Mission

This role is responsible for ensuring continuous material availability to produce cans and ends. An initial focus will be on metal. This includes daily inventory management as well as long-term material demand projections. Furthermore, this role needs to liaise with material suppliers on a global and regional level on delivery topics. Also, this role advises on material constraints in the medium to long term planning process and provides the material demand plan for procurement. The goal is to create process excellence in material planning and procurement, introducing new ways of working and tools where necessary.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Drive innovation in the metal planning process and tools, including network optimization, stock-build profiling, specification harmonization and supplier qualifications
  • Ensuring continuous critical material availability, starting with metal along with planning for visibility in business plan
  • Setting the right level of metal inventories and policy for each location within the business including reserve inventories held at supplier locations for both cans and ends
  • Understands changes coming from planning and resulting impacts on metal plan in volumetric and financial dimensions to perform gap closing measures if necessary
  • Cooperating with cans and ends planners to develop the metal plan and derive the overall metal demand for procurement to purchase
  • Support procurement on SRM initiatives and project management (e.g., building import supply chains)
  • Ensuring the right metal is always available at the optimum cost to support the overall IMP supply plan and day-to-day customer fulfilment requirements
  • Giving input on metal constraints for the preparation of the supply review
  • Day-to-day maintenance of these metal inventories in alignment with global and regional metal procurement as well as tollers SPDs
  • Validate purchase orders / call offs against procurement contracts
Requirements
  • Bachelor level degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or similar
  • 8+ years procurement or planning experience with best-in-class planning systems
  • Background in raw material and inventory management
  • Ideally fast-moving consumer goods
  • Advanced communication skills: to be able to communicate the material plan internally in simple every-day language
  • Inquisitiveness: recognition that planning is just a model of the real world and continually improving understanding of how things really work is essential to improving planning performance
  • Planning experience: an acute understanding of risks, possibilities and how to evaluate outcome to ensure stable plans that will survive inevitable variation from expectation
  • Understanding of advanced planning approaches, tools and solutions. Specifically in analytical techniques and in software solutions
