The Medical Advisor is part of the Country Medical Affairs Department and serves as a scientific expert for the Vaccines Therapeutic Area with focus on 2-3 specific vaccines and will be reporting to the Infectious Diseases and Vaccines Medical Affairs Lead. Internal key interactions are with the Brand & Customer Manager, Business Unit Lead, Sales Manager and Customer Representatives in the Vaccines area, as well as cross-functional collaborations with Policy and Communications, Market Access, Regulatory and the Clinical Trial Operations team. External key interactions are with Scientific Leaders (SLs) as well as with multiple external stakeholders in the field. An important responsibility will be to translate customer insights into strategic imperatives for respective therapeutic areas to achieve our scientific and business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Country Medical Affairs Plan for assigned vaccines

  • Scientific Exchange on a regular basis with defined Scientific Leaders and HCPs and convey information about the latest development in the assigned indication

  • Develop and maintain strong scientific network

  • Organize and lead local advisory boards and Expert Input Forums

  • Organize local non-promotional medical education programs

  • Setup and management of IIS (Investigator initiated studies) and non-interventional Local data generation studies

  • Participate at national and international scientific meetings to apply newest knowledge and feed-back to relevant stakeholders

  • Close collaboration with RDMA (Regional Director Medical Affairs) within region on strategic priorities

  • Collates field insights that will be shared internally as appropriate

  • Compliant cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders

  • Medical Legal Review of promotional material for the assigned vaccines

  • Develops and maintains up-to date scientific knowledge around relevant disease areas, products within those areas and research methodologies

  • Ensures that all duties are performed in alignment with company SOPs/Guidelines and local laws and regulations

Qualifications

  • MD, Pharmacist or PhD in a life science

  • Fluency in German AND English

  • 2-5 years of experience within the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry; preferably work experience in Medical Affairs function or a thorough understanding of this function

  • Experience in vaccines, strong scientific baseline knowledge, understanding of clinical trials methods, implementation and interpretation of clinical data, sound scientific and clinical judgment, and an eagerness to continue to learn more is desirable

  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to function within a team environment

  • A proactive "can do" attitude and passion for the therapeutic area

  • Strong ethics and integrity

  • Ability to negotiate and influence others

  • Excellent team player; must excel at teamwork in cross-functional groups. Must be able to interact successfully with a variety of individuals at the local level, including Medical Advisors working in different therapeutic areas, R&D teams, commercial teams and contract research organizations (CROs)

The Swiss subsidiary is based in Lucerne’s city center and is home to the human medicine organization. Various departments are located here, including oncology, vaccines, hospital care, primary care, women’s health as well as other fields such as clinical research, regulatory affairs, market access, medical affairs, and policy & communications.
