medical affairs lead - ONCOLOGY

This position offers the opportunity to take on a key leadership role within the Pharma industry. You will be accountable for the medical strategy and execution to achieve business & company objectives for a particular therapeutic area. You will be assigned to the Therapeutic area Oncology. You will have a team of Medical Scientific Liaisons (MSL) and Medical Advisors reporting to you.

You will contribute to the Country Value Team (CVT) by providing medical strategic input and TA expertise. In addition, you will be leading the medical team by coordinating, coaching, training and developing talent and continuously improving processes and ways of working. You will provide thought leadership, subject matter and medical expertise across the organization as well as in external forums.

Key Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Acting as a driving member of the Country Value Team and providing significant input into the development and oversight of strategic and business plans, policy development, business and medical strategies and relationship management.
  • Performing strategic portfolio-management and development of a long-term therapeutic area strategy in close collaboration with the EMEA Functional Network & CVTs.
  • Leading the therapeutic area in the development of the Medical Affairs (MAF) plan in line with the EMEA/IBVT medical strategy. Responsible that the MAF Plan is aligned to the overall Business Plan and monitors execution of the MAF Plan.
  • Forecasting and managing the medical budget for the therapeutic area.
  • Accountable for managing and monitoring execution of the MSL activity plans and implementing necessary corrective actions if needed.
  • Accountable for tracking and reviewing quantitative and qualitative KPIs.
  • Accountable for the development planning and capability building of direct reports.
  • Driving an optimal cross-functional collaboration in the TA between Commercial, Selling and Medical Affairs
  • Establishing relationships to external stakeholders and builds a network of top Key Opinion Leaders (KOL).
  • Ensuring optimal collaboration with the Global Clinical Operations (GCO).
  • Reviewing and certifying medical education material, succinct statements and all other material to be approved.

Qualifications
  • Scientific degree in Medical Doctor, Pharmaceutical or Natural Science university degree.
  • Proven track record of experience in the Medical Affairs field of Oncology with demonstrated impact on the Therapy area, Country or Region level.
  • Deep knowledge of the therapeutic area Oncology, strength in research and interpretation of medical data.
  • Provide leadership and medical expertise in the support local product registration and marketing.
  • Deep knowledge of Pharma industry and Health Care environment.
  • Strong business acumen with sense of urgency.
  • Positive dissatisfaction and aspiration to beat the odds.
  • Strategic thinking, analytical skills and customer centricity with strong external focus.
  • Effective communicator with strong influencing networking skills.
  • High learning agility and open mindset to be able to manage ever changing parameters within a fast-paced environment.
  • Winning mindset and fun to work in a high performing team.
  • Fluency in English is required. A good grasp of German and/or French is a plus.
