The research group of Prof. Schefold applies translational research to address important every-day problems in acute or intensive care. We are particularly interested in studying how the pa-tient’s response («host response») affects critical disease.

We are looking for a motivated data scientist/bioinformatician with demonstrated skills in statistics and research to strengthen our research group in intensive care. The offered position embraces a full range of conventional medical statistics to cutting-edge machine learning approaches. Our projects comprise prediction of response to treatment, immune/ metabolic profiling and immunoregulatory biomarker development. We offer a position in an inspiring and flexible work environment.

The Responsibilities
  • Data extraction, wrangling, EDA, statistical modelling (survival analyses, linear/logistic regression, clustering)
  • Statistical lead and support in research projects
  • Feasibility studies and study design development
  • Publishing of results at regular meetings and reports
Your profile
  • Demonstrated ability to design, generate, analyze, and present statistics and reproducible code pipelines in an understandable and well documented format
  • Proficiency in the use of R/python/SPSS/SQL, familiarity and hands on experience with data wrangling packages, EDA and ML packages, visualization packages
  • Methodical approach with attention to detail
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root cause
  • Communication skills (verbal, written) in English are of advantage
  • Biomedical background and manuscript drafting experience is an asset
