In 2022, our guests will experience all the comfort and elegance of our award-winning fleet with two expedition ships built specifically to explore the world’s most remote destinations.   • The Travel Consultant promotes and facilitates the sale of future Viking cruises to guests sailing onboard Viking Ocean Cruises through marketing, live presentations, social gatherings and one-on-one consultations.
  • You are required to meet with guests for prescheduled appointments or walk-in consultations and provide them with a wide range of Viking cruise itineraries for both Oceans and Rivers Ships.
  • It is your responsibility to create a friendly, guest-oriented service culture to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business, which in turn, will increase revenue and profitability of the company.
Your Responsibilities
  • Must be familiar with the entire ship operation and be versed on all shipboard products and services, for the purposes of being able to incorporate this knowledge into advice given to guests
  • Consistently meet the expectation of converting 18% of guests sailing onboard Viking Ocean Cruises, to a new Viking Cruise reservation.
  • At the beginning of each cruise, partner with the Cruise Director and team to film an introductory video for guests, to introduce the team and promote the latest onboard booking advantages.
  • Deliver Future Cruise presentations; host informal gatherings with guests to promote Viking Cruises.
  • Have an in depth understanding of current and future company products and services to respond knowledgably to guest enquiries.
  • Inform the Hotel General Manager about any work activities, performance targets and specific guest interactions, that require follow up.
  • Participate in plaque exchanges and ship tours, when required.
  • In conjunction with the Cruise Director, host one Viking Explorer Society Function per cruise, for loyal guests, to build excitement for upcoming Viking itineraries.
  • Interact and become familiar with guests at cocktail and onboard events, in accordance with Viking’s STAR Service Standard.
  • Make use of large television monitors and laptops issued onboard to exhibit exciting Viking River and Oceans itineraries.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle difficult guests and/or situations with grace, professionalism and rational thinking and the ability to present adequate solutions.
  • Maintain consistent office hours ensuring availability for guest appointments, as required.
  • Provide the highest level of comfort and service to guests, as per Viking’s STAR Service Standards and all Public Health Policies.
  • Provide embarkation day ship tours for small groups of arriving guests, as needed.
  • Ensure you always wear the appropriate and task specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for your duties onboard. Always use correct lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
  • Uphold impeccable grooming standards within your team at all times by complying with Viking’s Image and Uniform Standards; ensure that company property is appropriately secured and protected, especially during rough weather conditions, in order to prevent unnecessary loss or damage.
  • Positively contribute to achieving/succeeding Hotel Administration KPI goals (quality & financial) for the Hotel Administration Department; have full knowledge about safety & security procedures and can operate in line with all Public Health, Environmental and Safety & Security Policies ; participate in all training concerning onboard training, safety & security, fire prevention, evacuation exercises as required by the company.

  • A required minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Cruise Sales Consultant / Manager
  • Shipboard experience is required.
  • Must be confident with at least three different global itineraries.
  • Must have an exemplary and consistent sales record
  • F luent in English - must be able to address any kind of information in an adequate manner with excellent oral and written English communication skills – the ability to speak an additional language is an advantage.
  • Must have experience in working with multi-cultural teams and working independently.
  • Must be f lexible, stress resistant, and self-motivated.
  • S trong administration skills are preferred and must be proficient with PC based databases, spread sheets, and word processing systems.
  • Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality, professional appearance and impeccable hygiene standards are required, with excellent knowledge of all Public Health Policies; team builder with exceptional work ethic, motivational skills and coaching abilities.
  • Must handle all communications, including written, email, or telephone, with confidentiality.

  • Ensure appropriate appearance and clothing according to the updated Grooming Standards.
