Position Summary

As a “Packaging Engineer Specialist for Sustainable Solutions”, you will be a major contributor in innovation, development, and industrialization of functional secondary packaging solutions of our Nestlé coffee businesses. You will actively be involved in innovative projects from concept to launch in full alignment with business needs and in line with Nestlé sustainability requirements. You will build your expertise and apply your knowledge in the field of functional packaging / materials / Filling and Sealing lines. In this position, you will report into R&D Sustainable Packaging Projects Team Leader and be part of the Category. You will be responsible to ensure that projects are delivered on quality, time and budget while meeting safety, compliance, and regulatory aspects. A Day in the Life of a Packaging Engineer Specialist for Sustainable Solutions
  • Generate new ideas / concepts / activities / methods in terms of design, materials, and characterization.
  • Lead sustainable packaging projects with selected packaging suppliers and conduct trials at Nestlé factory with focus on product quality, on time delivery, line performance and cost efficiency
  • Ensure that packaging suppliers can meet short and long-term expectations for the projects, and benchmark the environmental impact of the packaging solution (Life Cycle Assessment)
  • Define, plan and deliver projects for NSTC under the leadership of your team leader
  • Manage projects in accordance with business requirements using Innovation-to-Launch Processes
  • Ensure that all milestones are reached on time, within budget while performing risk assessment analysis.
  • Build sustainable packaging knowledge for Nestlé by conducting trials, externalizing studies and sharing reports across the Capsule & Competence departments
  • Lead innovation processes in ensuring that your ideas are properly protected by patents to give Nestlé & Nespresso a competitive edge
  • Support development of competencies of Lab technician and peers by sharing best practices and knowledge within the team
  • Stay up to date with the latest sustainable packaging solutions and proactively participate to training sessions
  • Activate relevant internal and external networks to deliver the project and to ensure that best knowledge is used in the project

What Will Make You Successful
  • R&D Packaging Engineer with expertise in secondary packaging and converting processes (Vertical / Horizontal Form Fill Seal, cartoner machines)
  • Experience in packaging development and industrialization in factory or R&D environment
  • Understanding of the full lifecycle of packaging from production to waste management/recycling
  • Experience in DMAIC / Green Belt is a definitive plus
  • 5 years of R&D experience as Project Manager
  • Solution provider & excellent problem-solving skills
  • Impeccable communication skills and ability to translate complex topics into easy-to-understand concepts
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and challenge the status quo
  • Excellent level of English, spoken, written, and read
