Janssen Research & Development as part of Johnson & Johnson’s Family of Companies is recruiting for Statistics & Decision Sciences (SDS) Summer Intern to be supervised by Janssen staff based in our Beerse (BE), Leiden (NL), High Wycombe (GB), Prague (CZ) and Allschwil (CH) locations. Virtual internships may be needed according to public health governance and will be accommodated. SDS is part of an organization called Global development, within Janssen Research & Development.
Up to three summer internships are available for students working towards a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a similar field. Students will have the opportunity to work with practicing statisticians and computer scientists learning about high performance computing using R and statistical applications specific to the pharmaceutical industry. In turn, this project will contribute to the further professional development of the student and it will provide Janssen an opportunity to evaluate the student’s potential for future employment.
In this role, students will be involved in supporting Research and Development in areas that range from Drug Discovery through to confirmatory clinical studies. This work may include benchmarking of different R packages that can be used for parallelization, workflow efficiencies for high performance computing using R, investigating R and singularity, a modern application containerization technique, and investigating high performance functionalities using Shiny. Other activities may include designing experiments, conducting simulations to evaluate optimal designs, and writing a detail report of findings which might be submitted for publication.
