Title: PhD positions on security testing with/of deep learning, within the TAU research group and the European project Sec4AI4Sec

Abstract:

The European Horizon project Sec4AI4Sec aims at using AI to support security testing of vulnerable software and at developing novel robustness testing techniques that address the security of AI based systems. Within such project, the TAU (Testing Automated) research group at the Software Institute of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) will contribute novel research on: (1) the use of reinforcement learning to expose software vulnerabilities with white-box and/or black-box reward functions; (2) search-based test case generation for vulnerability exposure in deep learning based systems and creation of a robustness assessment benchmark.

We are scouting excellent applicants to fill 2 PhD positions. Successful candidates will work at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland, under the supervision of prof. Paolo Tonella. At USI, PhD salaries are highly competitive (around 50 kCHF), in accordance with the Swiss standards. The selected candidates are expected to start on October 1st, 2023. The duration of the PhD contracts will be 4 years.
