The role will work closely and collaborate with the Business Development function and LDC’s Subject Matter Experts to identify high-value growth and strategic assets to join the LDC family. Working closely with LDC’s Grains and Oilseeds and Innovation and Downstream platforms, the Plant-based proteins Project Manager will be responsible to: i) define an ambitious CAPEX and OPEX plan to match LDC’s strategy to enter the industry, including researching and evaluating potential acquisition targets, developing solid business cases and financial models and coordinating due diligence, and ii) Contribute to the implementation of the CAPEX plan by leading all M&A aspects and support existing operations/projects with financial performance evaluation and regular reporting to LDC Executive Group and regional management teams.
Main Responsibilities

  • Conceptualise and drive the definition of the plant proteins strategy, under oversight of the Plant proteins business Steering Committee
  • Ownership and responsibility of M&A endeavors in the Plant Based innovation sector; representing LDC to potential acquisitions, JVs and key industry stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify, undertake due diligence and evaluate M&A opportunities
  • Build business cases and valuation models and assess the value creation of brownfield, greenfield, internal projects, acquisition, divestiture, alliance proposals, while actively liaising with the business, R&D, production and finance teams
  • Structure and manage M&A projects from start to Go-Live, including Legal, Tax, Accounting and Finance
  • Support internal investment process by working closely with business units to build investment cases and make recommendations to the business development group and management.
  • Organize and make presentations to update and propose business opportunities and strategies to the Executive Team Undertake active tracking of plant based sector valuation trends and fundamentals in the sector
  • Ensure knowledge sharing and transfer across the team and the firm
Experiences

  • Likely to have 7+ years of experience of corporate finance transactions (M&A and financing transactions) in an investment bank or investment firm, ideally within the food production or Agribusiness sectors.
  • Relevant experience in similar role within relevant sector, ie. plant based industry value chain (processing, ingredients or food) or financial institution with relevant sector focus covering plant based proteins.
  • Project management and interpersonal skills with ability to work on multiple projects and within diverse teams
  • Familiar with leading and negotiating business transactions, including the negotiation of terms and fund-raising proposals.
  • Strong time management and presentation skills, understanding of managing and interpreting structured and unstructured data.

  • Providing input to help drive innovative, unique and creative business strategies
  • Developing project plans and obtaining appropriate approvals to proceed with project / investment transaction, arranging introductory calls and meetings with key executives with partners / in target companies
