Role profileAs a Biodiversity Specialist, you will be primarily responsible to support clients becoming Nature Positive businesses. In this exciting role you will be leading our clients based in Germany (or elsewhere in Europe) and serving our clients across Europe and beyond to improve their biodiversity performance across their global operations. The role will require liaison with clients for them to understand what it means to be nature positive and working with them to develop appropriate commitments and then building the tools to implement and measure its success.The role will require a deep understanding of the processes and techniques used to document the impacts and dependencies businesses have on biodiversity. It will also need you to have experience of corporate and operational management systems, within which nature positive goals and objectives will be incorporated to drive continual improvement in our clients’ biodiversity performance. You will occasionally be required to provide principal-level support to other global ERM biodiversity projects during peak periods.Main responsibilities
  • Lead our growing service line supporting clients to become net nature positive
  • Provide thought leadership and technical expertise on nature positive performance
  • Prepare proposals, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates, and participate in nature positive business development with existing clients and identified leads across ERM
  • Build effecting working relationships internally and collaborate with other ERM biodiversity specialists and other consultants from different technical communities e.g. Nature Based Solutions
  • Perform Principal-level project delivery activities such as project direction, report writing and review, and development of operational toolkits for clients to manage and measure positive biodiversity performance
  • Work on multiple projects within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables
  • Provide Principal-level support to other projects carried out by the biodiversity team (e.g. 20-50% of your time depending on demands)
  • Mentor junior consulting staff to develop their skill sets in the impact assessment/project financing subject areas
The ideal candidateThe ideal candidate will be an advanced practitioner in delivering nature positive frameworks in line with relevant global standards e.g. the IUCN Guideline for Planning and Monitoring Corporate Biodiversity Performance, the Taskforce for Nature-based Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and the Science-based Targets, etc. Broader experience in international performance standards (PS6, PR6, etc) is also required to provide support to the global biodiversity team and their existing and future projects.The ideal candidate will also:
  • Have a science degree or masters in relevant discipline
  • Have passion for biodiversity and growing a new service offering within ERM
  • Prior technical experience working within, or consulting to, any of the following industries: pharma, mining, oil and gas, renewables and/or infrastructure
  • Have established connections to assist with the business’ growth and a proven track-record at growing and sustaining the project pipeline
  • Strong communication, client relationship, people leadership, the ability to work in English
  • Working abilities in other widely spoken languages will be well considered
