We are open to consider the role to be based at any of our JSC sites, with strong preference for the following countries or sites: Schaffhausen (Switzerland), Leiden (The Netherlands), Beerse (Belgium)

The Process Scientist, Vaccine Fill Finish, is responsible for providing scientific and technical support to vaccine Drug Product manufacturing and related processing equipment and processes.

YOUR Responsibilities & YOUR Impact
  • Develop together with R&D and other supply chain functions manufacturing processes and standards for vaccine Drug Product- with the overall goal to enhance reliability, compliance & efficiency in the vaccine supply chain network
  • Coordinate the implementation of new technologies while ensuring alignment with the Technology roadmap for manufacturing technology platform
  • Provide technical support as Global Technical Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) to vaccine platform manufacturing and process issues, both at internal and external sites
  • Drive process efficiency and cost improvement initiatives for the vaccine supply chain network
  • Contribution and review of technical and regulatory documents (e.g., protocols, reports, filings, criticality analysis, control strategies, …)
  • Collaborate with the Technical Operations Business Optimization CoE function to establish knowledge management elements for the newly formed TO Vaccine technology platform
  • Provide technical support and/or leadership of cross functional teams on different projects/ process improvements and resolve inter-functional issues. Ensure documentation of project and program activities and deliverables.
  • Keep senior management informed on project and program status by creating, maintaining, and presenting written reports on project and program status, tests, costs, issues, and performance against established targets on a regular basis.

The Process scientist, Vaccine Fill Finish will have the following skills:

Solid understanding of parenteral Drug Product manufacturing processes based on scientific and engineering principles. Understanding of related science: data analytics, modeling, statistics, advanced process controls, material science, container closure systems …. Solid understanding of pharmaceutical product development and life cycle management as well as scale up and tech transfer requirements. Experience with GMP, QA, Regulatory expectations, and guidelines for parenterals, biologics and/or vaccines.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences/Pharmacy or Engineering is required. A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or 3 years of experience given a Master’s degree or PhD.,

with past proven field experience in the following areas :
    • Strong theoretical and practical expertise in parenteral or biotechnology manufacturing processes - vaccine and parenteral dosage forms, focused on engineering, new product development, manufacturing processes
    • Operational Excellence and/or Manufacturing execution understanding with Knowledge of manufacturing site systems and procedures (SAP, complaint handling, change control, qualification, process validation and Continued Process Verification, … etc.)
    • Understanding of Quality & Compliance and Regulatory requirements - (GMP/EHS) for biologics/parenterals
    • Understanding of pharmaceutical product and process development within R&D as well as life cycle management.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to influence peers, superiors, and partners.
    • Motivated, able to work independently with demonstrated problem solving skills
  • This position may require up to 25% domestic and international travel
  • Languages: Fluent in written and spoken English
