Procurement Manager - Commodity Risk Management (m/f/d)

Main Job Purpose
  • Manage the price risk for Unilever’s global Liquid Oils (Soybean, Sunflower, Rapeseed/Canola) & Grains (Corn & Wheat) exposure of over EUR 600m under the direction of the Commodity Risk Management Director and deliver performance targets within Unilever’s risk management parameters and policy.
  • Lead and own the Global Liquid Oils & Grains risk management strategy including providing accurate price forecasts, deriving strategies complementing the forecasts and ensuring execution of the strategies in compliance with internal policies and hedge accounting principles.
  • As Unilever moves towards sustainable sourcing closer to origin markets, devise a futuristic risk management strategy complementing our sustainability goals.

YOUR TASKS
  • As part of the global veg oils team, formulate risk management strategies for Liquid Oils that will deliver performance targets to the business.
  • Work on executing paper covers (futures, options) as well as instructing physical cover decisions (including physical basis).
  • Develop a strong info collection network – leverage suppliers, other growers, reports, funds information and a wider macro context. Lead commodity research in Liquid Oils & Grains. Drive initiatives for trading data analytics
  • Actively plan, monitor, execute and draw insights from expected / actual market moves to drive decision-making.
  • Ensure a keen eye for detail to check accuracy of covers, and work with Middle office and operations teams to drive for timely and accurate reports. Challenge status quo.
  • Strive for best-in-class market price forecasts for all materials under scope – generate insights from all known info sources and communicate to the business.
  • Engage business stakeholders to communicate the view of CRM and the strategy. Show curiosity to understand the business context in each market and provide relevant solutions thereof.
  • Closely coordinate with Global procurement counterparts to drive synergies.

What You Contribute
  • University degree in Economics, Finance or of a quantitative background.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Commodity Risk Management specifically Agriculture Commodity Trading (Veg Oils), Research, with experience in FMCG companies.
  • Intimate knowledge of commodity markets with a focus on vegetable oils & added insights on the grains markets.
  • Deep knowledge of biofuel markets
  • Ability to utilize different market instruments (futures, options, structures, basis) to manage commodity cover strategy.
  • Highly numerate with strong statistical analysis skills, with strong willingness to embrace new analytical initiatives.
  • Clear communication skills with ability to concise complex market knowledge into simplistic information
  • High achieving, independent individual with strong problem solving skills.
  • Proven track record in managing positions during highly volatile market periods.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg / Reuters and/or programming skills - Python / R / VBA
  • Knowledge of position management suites EKA, CSL
