Insights for Education is an independent non-profit foundation working to advance evidence and improve education for every learner. Its mission is to build resources for education leaders by synthesising and translating an inclusive range of evidence, and to enable these resources to be used by those who make education happen by building bridges across knowledge actors, policymakers and practitioners. Established in 2019 and registered in Zurich, Switzerland, the foundation is supported by a visionary co-investor collective and is growing partnerships across governments, agencies, NGOs, universities, businesses and foundations in Africa, Middle East, Europe, and North America.

CONTEXT OF THE POST

Insights for Education (IfE) is a young organisation but builds on years of thinking and is supported by a visionary Co-Investor Collective. This role will be part of a young, but grounded, foundation that aims to be a disruptor to the status quo in the education world, and therefore requires someone who can work in an environment which is fluid, agile and responsive to change.

PURPOSE OF THE POST

For this position located in our headquarter office in Horgen (ZH), we are looking for a qualified and innovative candidate to help increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our organisational program operations.

Main Activities And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will pro-actively support cross-departmental Leadership Team key efforts/initiatives related to leadership priorities.

Leadership Team Support (30-40%):
  • Flexible support directly for the IfE CEO, COO, Chief of Staff, Chief Product Officer
  • Organise, lead protocols and document meetings with senior management and the global IfE team
  • Prepare presentations and reports for IfE’s partners and events
Cross-departmental Operations (60-70%):
  • Monitor activity and budget implementation toward annual organisational and grant planning figures and budgets; prepare data analyses and program summaries for the Leadership Team’s decision-making
  • Maximise and manage day-to-day relationships with external service providers across departments, such as IT, Accounting, HR, Legal Advice, Technical/Program Assistance Consultants and Communication providers
  • Ensure external service providers’ contracts (individual consultants and institutional) are managed in accordance with their terms of reference
  • Support the inter-departmental document management, organisational workflow development and implementation
  • Contribute to the development of operational best practices and to ensuring compliance throughout the global organisation, including HR policies and organizational value promotion
  • Oversee cashflow as per grants receipt, payment/bank processes and internal financial transactions administration
  • As required, liaise with respective country authorities related to national Foundation legal aspects, social benefits, etc.
  • Establish service provider relationships for staff travels and logistics, and organise national and international travels
  • Coordinate safe & healthy physical office spaces and equipment

Education
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in operations management, project management, strategic management, business management; or comparable education combined with relevant work experience
WorkExperience
  • At least 3 years of experience in an operations or project management position, or similar
  • MS Office proficient; especially very well versed in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Sharepoint and MS Teams are not required but is an advantage
  • In-depth understanding of and experience with budgeting and financial reporting, financial transaction processes and monitoring
  • Working knowledge of good business practices and office management
Languages
  • Business-level fluency in German and English is required
