We are seeking for immediate hire or by arrangement, for our Global Research & Development Center based in Sierre, an R&D Forming Engineer (100%)

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Core Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the expertise and method development on forming and mechanical testing for automotive aluminum sheet
  • Ensure our sheet forming and related mechanical testing capability matches our needs for the new product development and customer support
  • Coordination of equipment maintenance, definition of safety standards in collaboration with EHS team, and reliability assessments
  • Management of technical projects, results analysis, and preparation of experiment reports
  • Training of team members on lab process methods
Your Profile
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in materials science, metallurgy or mechanical engineering
  • 3-5 years professional experience in sheet metal forming (e.g., press shop) or mechanical testing including digital image correlation methods
  • Technical expertise in aluminum and rolled products and skills in FE modelling are competitive advantages
  • Experience with ISO standards and MSA required
  • Good team and innovative spirit with the ability to communicate in a multicultural environment
  • Fluent in English; French and German are an advantage
Location Profile

Novelis’ Sierre is located in the Valais of Switzerland employing around 500 people. It mainly focuses on production of aluminium sheet for the automotive market covering the entire process from casting to finishing. The plant also hosts a world-leading Research & Innovation Center specialized in development of new automotive sheet alloys surface treatment and joining technologies. Sierre is nicknamed the “City of the Sun” with an average of 300 days of sunshine in proximity to skiing resorts and famous for its cheese and wine. The Sierre plant supports its community through direct sponsorship of many annual events promoting education sports and culture. In addition it supports student project at technical and high schools.
