Public Relations and Media Relations Manager

Drive and manage media and public relations across the Robotics Division (RO) and support RO’s Business Lines and regions in their media and PR activities. Working closely with the network of media and public relations professionals across the business, as well as with ABB Group Communications to maximize positive coverage for the company. Lead the storytelling agenda and development of RO’s messaging across external communications channels. Reporting to the Global External Communications Manager of the Robotics and Discrete Automation (RA) Business Area, you will contribute to the continued global success of the business.

Your responsibilities

• Co-develop and implement a global, integrated media/ PR strategy in line with RO’s business strategy.
• Position ABB as a global leader in robotics and automation, increasing the visibility of its products, solutions and services across key audiences, globally.
• Manage the strategic messaging and storytelling that brings the global communications strategy to life.
• Work closely with stakeholders across the business to identify and develop compelling stories for news releases/ features/ opeds etc.. Regular engagement with Business Lines and key markets to identify potential stories.
• Regular engagement with markets, social media and Marketing teams, and external media agencies, to ensure alignment and flawless execution of communications plans.
• Maintain ‘RO Messaging Book’ and create bank of content for reuse by Business Line and country communicators.
• Build global RA Media Relations community. Provide training for global communications team on media and PR.
• Identify thought leadership topics and opportunities and lead in positioning key spokespeople in the sector.

Your background

• 10+ years of experience in a similar position, in a global and industrial company with excellent storytelling and writing skills.
• Native English speaker a must, any additional languages a plus.
• Strong project management skills and effectively managing multiple internal stakeholders across the business and Group communications.
• Experienced in working directly with C-suite, advising and coaching senior leaders on media relations, developing thought leadership platforms and content.
• In-depth experience in proactive and reactive media relations and crisis management, experienced in managing external agencies.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to develop content for a wide range of communications channels to effectively deliver the appropriate message.
• Experience in highly matrixed organizations and in coordinating with and working across geographies.
