In this position, you will contribute ideas for innovative technology developments and solutions, working to solve industrial problems. Reporting to the Head Design & Engineering Advanced Technology, you will contribute creative ideas to R&D projects, as well as proposing follow-up projects and activities based on new ideas.
Your responsibilities
- Monitoring technology developments and ABB products and technologies, and identifying technical drivers for R&D projects
- Participating in working teams, disseminating technical/scientific knowledge in projects, and assisting colleagues in applying processes and tools
- Analyze and challenge existing matured design concepts
- Conduct competitor design analyses within and outside our core industries
- Work-out alternative and innovative turbocharger design features challenging the status quo and providing tangible benefits for ABB and/or customers
- Elaborate and assess advanced and innovative design concepts as a base for strategic development directions
- Realize technology demonstrators and develop related technologies towards a maturity that it can be applied for new product development projects
- Identifying risks in R&D projects
Your background
- Min. 3 years industry experiences years of experience in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering working as R&D Engineer with engine technologies (engine construct, turbocharging, electrical motors/actuators)
- Sound knowledge of 3D design and analysis tools
- and the engine and power generation market
- Knowledge of CATIA V5/6 ideal (as well as other CAD packages), knowledge of GENERATIVE PART STRUCTURE ANALYSIS and Abaqus and Ansys preferable.
- A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Business fluent in English and German
