Optotune is a growing and internationally active optics company based in Dietikon, Switzerland. We develop, manufacture and market the latest generation of adaptive optical elements for industrial and consumer markets.

Your goal is to grow Optotune’s consumer business, may that be by scaling up our core markets, finding new applications for existing products or developing new markets.

The RnD product development team tackles the challenges in design and assembly of novel liquid lens and prism prototypes. Together with you, we bring the next generations of innovative optical products from the idea to production.

As the R&D product development engineer metrology, you are the owner and expert of the metrology systems within the RnD department. With this pallet of measurement equipment, you support the product development by troubleshooting, surface and wave front analysis, roughness measurements, tolerance analysis and quality control. You are responsible for our quality standards and process risk mitigation by continuous quality control (incoming inspection, in line inspection, and outgoing/end of line inspection).

Tasks
  • Develop conduct and optimize calibration and metrology measurements to qualify and validate prototypes and new products targeted for high volume manufacturing
  • Quality inspection and definition of inspection routines for incoming material
  • Troubleshoot and failure analysis in the product development
  • Support of the supplier quality management
  • Responsible for metrology methodology and release of the developed measurements including root cause analysis, tolerancing analysis, and troubleshooting of errors
  • Continuous improvements and new setups for the inline metrology control for prototype developments
  • End of line inspection and first article quality reporting for customer projects
  • Calibrations of the metrology systems and updates on ISO norms
  • Documentation and training of co-workers on the equipment
  • Collaboration and reporting in multidisciplinary project teams


Requirements
  • MSc degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent
  • Experience in metrology for a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experienced in metrology methods and equipment such as optical wave front analysis, 2D measurement projectors, 3D microscopes, roughness, flatness, interferometer, SEM, Spectrometer, reflectivity, transmission, thickness measurements, confocal sensors and similar
  • Knowledge in programming is desired
  • Broad technical understanding in optics and mechanical engineering
  • Proficient in reading/interpreting engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning
  • Open-minded for challenging ideas in dynamic environments with changing priorities
  • Quick thinker, creative, persistent, and empathic
  • Proficiency in English, German is an advantage
