Hobson Prior are currently looking for a Research Associate to join a brilliant biotech organisation on a contract basis. Our client is focused on being a world distributor of life-changing therapies in serious illnesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • For the role of Research Associate, you will be accountable for fabricating, preparing, and implementing trials in a timely manner, under the leadership of the allocated lab head.
  • Preservation of cell culture.
  • You will have responsibility of characterising compound effects in various cellular assays (e.g. cell viability assays) and western blotting.
  • Separate and foster primary human immune cells.
  • Progress and lead cellular in vitro immune cell assays using for example flow cytometry.
  • The ideal candidate will perform a number of experimental methods in parallel.
  • Distribute knowledge by eager association with other scientists and acquaintances within the group.
  • As the Research Associate, you will analyse and construe data of experiments.
  • Retain precise electronic records.
Requirements
  • You must have been educated to a BSc/MSc degree level in a life science subject (e.g. cell biology, immunology) or accomplished an apprenticeship for a research associate.
  • A strong understanding in cell culture is essential for this role.
  • At least one year of hands-on experience in a research lab.
  • Background in basic procedures in molecular and cell biology is needed for this role.
  • Acquaintance with standard lab apparatus and IT tools is required for the role.
  • Capable of performing and recording original research in an independent fashion.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills in English are essential to the role.
  • Prior experience with separation and fostering of primary immune cells is advantageous, but not vital to the role.
  • Practical experience in immunological assays and methods involving flow cytometry would be a bonus but is not crucial to the role.
  • Past experience in compound screening in cell-based assays.
  • Former experience with cellular assay.
