6000! That’s the number of associates in the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.

This role is for a research associate in a cell biology and biochemistry lab in the Autoimmunity, Transplantation and Inflammation (ATI) group at the Novartis Institutes of Biomedical Research in Basel, Switzerland. In this role, the applicant will perform cutting-edge research studying the role of innate immunity in inflammatory diseases and contribute to preclinical drug discovery teams as they develop molecules for the clinic.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Carry out a range of cell biology experiments in primary cells and cell lines to both further mechanistic understanding of innate immune signaling pathways
  • Profile potential drug candidates to understand their activity and function.
  • Work in a highly collaborative environment and support a broad range of projects.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary drug discovery teams.

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to the role:
  • Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology or a similar discipline.
  • Have expertise in cell culture of both cell lines and primary cells, cellular and biochemical assay development experience, and mastery of classical cell biology readouts (e.g. FACS, western blot, qPCR)
  • Have >2 years industry experience and experience with compound profiling.
  • Have excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Be able to clearly present their work in team and group settings.
