Description

A Research Scientist position is available in the group of Prof. Andrea Endimiani at the Institute for Infectious Diseases (IFIK; University of Bern - www.ifik.unibe.ch). Prof. Endimiani is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF; https://data.snf.ch/grants?q=Endimiani). The Research Scientist will investigate multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria together with the implementation of standard and new in vivo models.

Requirements

The Research Scientist must possess a Master degree. He/she should be enthusiastic for research in the field of antibiotic resistant bacteria, next-generation sequencing technologies, and in vivo models. The candidate should have a strong background in microbiology (specifically in bacteriology) and molecular biology. In particular, the candidate must possess experience with short- and long-reading whole-genome sequencing, along with genome/plasmid assembly, annotation procedures, bioinformatics and metagenomics. Applicants without any experience with whole-genome sequencing will not be considered. Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Information about the application

Salary: 80% for 1 year according to the guidelines of the University of Bern.
