6500! That’s the number of associates in the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.
NIBR Biologics Center (NBC) is responsible to create new Biologics entities ranging from monoclonal antibodies to AAV molecules, and to ensure their fitness to requirements that a drug must fulfill. For this purpose, state of art, analytical capabilities are required, in particular mass spectrometry. Therefore, we are looking for a talented person who will apply the existing ones to these new modalities and also evaluate and apply new ones for next generation biologics.
This role is limited for 10 months
Your key responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform analyses by mass spectrometry of antibodies, proteins, and related molecules.
- Processing of data, result interpretation and preparation of summary documents and reports.
- Explore new MS workflows and technologies for the characterization of next generation biologics.
- Ability to support several projects in parallel and management of timelines
- Scheduling and performance of routine maintenance of lab instruments/equipment and organization of the general lab infrastructure (e.g., consumable orders)
- Writing of laboratory protocols

Minimum Requirements
What you’ll bring to the role:
- MSc or equivalent education in Analytical chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related discipline.
- Practical experience in mass spectrometry applied to the characterization proteins, antibodies, and related molecules.
- Experience with other types of molecules such as glycans and/or nucleotides would be of benefit.
- Solid theoretical knowledge of protein chemistry and analytical methods for characterization of proteins, e.g., liquid chromatography
- Good knowledge of laboratory, technical & computational tools. Knowledge of Genedata Expressionist would be of advantage
- Proficiency in English (oral and written)
- Ability to be a self-motivated team player able to thrive in a dynamic matrixed working environment.
- German and/or French would be helpful
