Introduction

At IBM, Technical Solution Architects work to understand needs and then create complex high-quality solutions that make meaningful impact. You’ll be responsible for overall leadership and delivery of the solutions from requirement gathering through implementation. You’ll use your in-depth knowledge of leading-edge products and technologies along with industry and business skills to influence outcomes.

Your Role and Responsibilities

The SAP Solution Architect is responsible for analysing and translating business information and technical design into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve complex business objectives for IBM internal and customer projects. The Solution Architect works closely with sales and engagement entities in defining technical specification requirements, checking feasibility, and designing and developing optimal and innovative solution for SAP technologies.

  • Develop architecture roadmaps, implementation approach & project plans for SAP technologies,
  • Provide guideline and best practice on sharing the SAP architecture models and solutions results to the business audience,
  • Work with functional and technical teams to understand business requirements and priorities,
  • Create architecture and technical design documents to communicate solutions that will be implemented by the solution designer and technical implementer,
  • Develop proofs-of-concept and prototypes to help illustrate approaches to technology and business problems,
  • Educate organisation on available and emerging innovation, technologies, tool sets and trends,
  • Present solutions and options to leadership, project teams, and other stakeholders (internal / external).
  • As trusted advisor you will consultant customers in defining best fitting strategy and roadmaps.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in terms of IT architecture,
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP technology topics, especially identity and access management, multifactor authentication, web access management (e.g. SSO, AD, ADFS, LDAP, OAuth, SAML2) as well as IT security and the integration of peripheral systems,
  • Several years of professional experience as a SAP system architect (SAP-HANA, SAP-ERP, ABAP platform, SAP-HANA, Fiori)
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to learn independently and have enthusiasm to teach others in a technical and organizational topic,
  • Demonstrate leadership in general: ability to identify priorities, be decisive, ability to lead strategic topics on a global basis, convince others,
  • Language skills: English, German: fluent
  • May require travel depending on business needs (up to 20%).

This position currently sits within Global Technology Services (GTS) Infrastructure Services (IS) or a shared services function supporting GTS.
