The R&D Innovation in Analytical Chemistry department in Geneva is looking for a

Scientist, Analytical Chemistry Instrumentation

specialized in Mass Spectrometry and Laboratory Automation

As a successful applicant, you will be involved in all practical and organizational aspects of an expert analytical chemistry research team, and in the development and application of new analytical methods and strategies from sample preparation to data processing.

Key Responsibilities

Lead a laboratory responsible for delivering GC/MS data acquired on various instruments. Understand the needs of partners from other teams and explore, develop, and apply automated workflows and advanced GC/MS methods to a broad range of objectives
Be a key player in the management of mass spectrometric databases, drive innovation in automated data processing, interpretation, and visualization. Validate results and communicate them proactively to diverse stakeholders
In collaboration with other experts in the global analytical team, lead the local automation platform including automated sample preparation for strategic projects. Explore and evaluate new technologies and deploy them across the company. Collaborate and develop projects with external partners
Document final accomplishments in reports and external presentations or peer-reviewed publications

We value

PhD in Analytical Chemistry, preferably with at least a few years of experience, with profound knowledge in laboratory instrumentation including mass spectrometry and automation
Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art GC/MS data acquisition and processing programs

Sound knowledge of organic chemistry and separation science
Positive “can-do” attitude, ability to challenge and question existing scientific approaches and to suggest and implement new solutions, and good planning and time management skills
Excellent team spirit, superior communication skills, open mindedness, networking and influencing abilities

Ability to work in interdivisional and international teams

Fluency in English is required, fluency in French is an important asset
