For our Chemistry CNS & Neuro organization, we are seeking a motivated Scientist to lead a lab of 1-3 associates.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead a lab unit in a drug discovery environment
  • Design and synthesize novel compound series interacting with a given biological target
  • Supervise a chemistry lab with 1-3 co-workers
  • Own bench work (ca 50% of time)
  • Plan and perform reactions on laboratory scale (mg to multi g) for coworkers and for own bench time
  • Master modern and traditional analytical and purification technics (TLC, LC-MS, (automated) prep. HPLC, 1D- and 2D-NMRs, etc).
  • Document practical work using electronic lab journal and responsible for a good documentation by coworkers.
  • Perform general lab duties
  • Closely follow scientific and technical development (literature, conference visits)
  • Plan practical work on long term basis, give timelines of own work and for direct reports
  • Drive SAR of own compound series
  • Present own work at group meetings
  • Present at larger internal meetings (e.g. CCB, PUM)
  • Present at external meetings
  • Interact and communicate with interdisciplinary DD team
  • Write patents and scientific publications
Candidate’s Requirements
  • PhD and Post-Doc in synthetic organic chemistry
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Solution oriented attitude
  • Well-organized, flexible in work assignment and team oriented
  • Hands-on attitude and ability to work independently
  • High level of creativity
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary team
  • Fluent in English
