Apply now for this exciting opportunity!The Scientist MSAT, Advanced Therapies is an upbeat, highly-motivated and collaborative member of our multi-functional and international team. In this role, you will develop and deploy modeling, process monitoring and advanced process control technologies within the manufacturing environment of our growing portfolio of cell and gene therapies.Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to process model development working with a team of process specialists and analytical scientists within MSAT and the Advanced Therapies platform.
  • Establish and implement projects to deliver innovative mechanistic, data-driven or hybrid models and data analytics strategies for implementation in pharmaceutical processes for cell and gene therapies.
  • Implement risk-based validation protocols to demonstrate credibility of low- to high-impact models in GMP environments.
  • Collaborate with operations personnel, statisticians, and quality control professionals to verify and validate the models in pilot and commercial scale manufacturing.
  • Prepare detailed in technical documents, present findings at internal/external meetings, and help regulatory colleagues in writing health authority submissions describing the overall modeling approach and its implementation.
  • Work in a dynamic team-oriented environment and respect diversity and inclusion when interacting with colleagues and partners.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in a Scientific or related field is required.
  • Advanced degree such as MS or a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, or similar quantitative scientific field is preferred.
Experience and Skill s:Required
  • A minimum 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Prior knowledge and proficiency with programming, data analysis and process modeling in tools such as Python, R, Matlab, Eigenvector, Unscrambler, SIMCA, gPROMS, etc.
  • Consistent track record developing mechanistic process modeling, unit operations modeling, process optimization, biological pathway modeling with applications to advanced therapies (cell/gene therapies, vaccines, and RNAs).
  • Demonstrated expertise in data-driven modeling including multivariate and machine learning tools, as well as statistical analysis.
Preferred:
  • Experience with biology/immunology/biochemistry as applied in cell and gene therapy processes (such as cellular metabolism, T-cell biology, cryopreservation).
  • Experience with cell culture bioreactor processes with application to gene and cell therapies.
  • Knowledge of chemo-metric modeling and use of advanced process sensor data (such as spectral data)
Other:
  • General knowledge of pharmaceutical process steps such as biologics manufacturing, vaccine manufacturing, small molecule organic synthesis, and oral solid dosage form manufacturing is a plus.
  • Persuasive, effective interpersonal skills are essential with an ability to work effectively across segments and functions at all levels of the organization.
  • Should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to build positive relationships and effectively use your influencing skills to drive outcomes.
  • Motivated, self-starter that has proven problem-solving skills.
  • Requires up to 25% domestic & international travel.
