Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of the strategic goals and objectives of the ICF;
  • Support of operations and the administration of the Board of Directors by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff and advising the Board on strategy, direction and real time operations;
  • Provide administration support to the ICF President, Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Congress where necessary;
  • Oversee the design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programmes, products and services agreed by the ICF Board of Directors;
  • Manage prudently and diligently, the ICF’s resources within defined and agreed budgets by the Board of Directors and according to current laws and regulations;
  • Responsibility for hiring, firing, day to day work programmes and the general working conditions of ICF staff according to authorised personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the ICF and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong positive image to the canoeing fraternity, Olympic family, partners and international media and external stakeholders
  • Represent the ICF at competitions, events, international meetings or other functions that are emitted as part of the position of Secretary General of an International Sports Federation;
  • Provide support and an initial platform for problem resolution for canoeing issues and matters related to ICF from all stakeholders.

Candidate Qualification:

  • Extensive senior management level experience (international sports organisations preferred, NGO/charitable sector, and commercial experience also considered).
  • A sound understanding of the sports sector with demonstrated experience (e.g., international sports organisation staff, professional or political positions in national sports organisations).

Professional Competencies:

  • Organisational leadership skills with the ability to operationalise the Board’s strategy.
  • Proven general management skills including organisation administration, staff management, operational planning, and financial management.
  • An effective communicator who can build positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English. Ideally strong working knowledge of French. Knowledge of other official ICF languages is an advantage.
  • Experience in marketing, legal, and/or delivery of large events would be an advantage.
  • Post graduate-level university degree preferred in sports administration or equivalent.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Based in ICF HQ in Lausanne, Switzerland
  • Available for extensive international travel
