A Fantastic new role has just opened up at one of our leading Swiss based clients offering the successful candidate the opportunity to join a hard-working team working on exciting projects in the pharmaceutical sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the technical setup and structure of the DCS system (DeltaV) to enable the successful Start-up, Commissioning / Validation and Operation of the new Large-Scale Manufacturing facility to be located at the Solothurn, Switzerland campus.
• Scope includes defining the technical strategy for execution of the DCS scope aligned with the clients Global Execution Systems (BES) approach of controlling the process and information systems within the Next Generation Manufacturing Operations.
• The Sr. Engineer will drive technical alignment between the different work packages across the automation project by ensuring standards are followed across the team.
• Additionally, the Sr. Engineer will be expected to identify gaps in standards, modify existing standards, and contribute to new standards, where applicable.
• The Sr. Engineer is also responsible for overseeing & reviewing contractors/integrators work during design, construction, commissioning / validation, and operations.
• The Recipe Lead will be responsible for understanding end-user Manufacturing requirements and implementing these requirements across the BES platforms in their assigned area.
• Following start up and validation, the Recipe Lead will be responsible for the ongoing improvements, support, and maintenance of the systems. Will also work across all areas of BES, i.e.: DeltaV, Syncade, Data Systems, and associated integrations.
• This role will also be responsible for providing system level support for the DeltaV platform, including provision of System Administrator functional support.
• Responsible for the translation of user requirements into Automation design requirements and implementation of a technically robust automation solution.
• Responsible for incorporation and implementation of Global BES strategies in the NGM facility.
• Responsible for ensuring that the integrated recipe solution (involving DCS/MES and interfaces) with Business Systems is fit for purpose and meets all site and global manufacturing and engineering requirements.
• Identifying and resolves issues effecting system operation. Implementing all required changes within the allocated time frame, and ensuring all changes implemented comply with the applicable change and testing procedures.
• Interacts with equivalent level Lead Engineers concerning matters of significance to Manufacturing operations.
• Conducts coordination and technical meetings with subcontractors and automation integrators.
• Supporting the multi-functional start-up and commissioning team to ensure receipt of automation and MES systems from the project group, through internal testing and software OQ, execution of the start-up and commissioning efforts and turnover and support of validation to align with overall project schedule.
• Works in close collaboration with the system Process Owners and Manufacturing staff to ensure the overall recipe design and implementation meets Engineering and Manufacturing requirements for the operation of the plant. DeltaV detailed design and configuration including a working understanding of Syncade interface with DeltaV.
• Aligns and reviews deliverables from the different BES/automation work packages as a Recipe Lead.
• Ensures the right technical prioritization on automation activities in their assigned area. Works closely with the respective BES Managers and Project Managers to ensure automation deliverables are aligned with all applicable project or operational milestones.
• Works closely together with the DeltaV Library Owner to ensure the applicable configuration standards are followed consistently, and the library modules are used as intended.
• Participates in the creation and execution of the BES validation strategy together with the BES CSV & SOL Quality representatives. Collaborates with other disciplines across the SOL Site to ensure overall coordination of the tasks and consistency in execution strategies. Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement & optimization of the overall systems, i.e.: design, programming, and test activities within the BES scope.
• Maintains training up-to-date and reports any safety incidents to management.
  

Requirements

• The incumbent is required to have minimum a Bachelor of Science degree in Automation, Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years applicable automation experience including 5 years’ experience on DeltaV platforms and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of 5 years in a large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, with direct experience in support of manufacturing operations.
• The incumbent must have demonstrated capability for technical leading of complex DCS (DeltaV)/ Automation projects with integrated MES systems initial development through validation of the facility.
• The incumbent must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical engineering/manufacturing environment. This position may need to travel up to 20% and may require working various shift models to ensure deadlines are met.
