Sony Advanced Visual Sensing (AVS) is a Sony Semiconductor Solutions company based in Zurich, Switzerland and a former spin-off of the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). About the opportunity:

Join the Sony family and shape how the global leader in image sensors enables new applications through innovative algorithms. As our Senior Engineerwith a focus on computer vision, artificial intelligenceand/or data science, you will develop novel computer vision solutions leveraging the cutting-edge Sony vision sensor technology.

You should hold either a relevant MSc degree coupled with some industry experience / or a PhD for this role, along with a healthy obsession for all things CV/AI/ML. You will:

• Develop and patent cutting-edge, novel event and multi-sensor-based computer vision algorithms, sensors and systems

• Drive, evaluate and enable sensor system market entries with innovative prototyping and minimal viable product development

• Identify and evaluate new applications and solutions with Sony sensors and demonstrate their impact on real systems

• Take ownership and follow your innovations through from first idea sketch to product prototype

• Generate new insights into visual sensing and influence hardware development

• Characterize, profile and test processing blocks

• Lead and promote fast development cycles through smart choices across our small project teams

• Contribute to the Sony AVS software and data infrastructure and increase the overall development efficiency with your contributions

• Discuss and contribute across project and team boundaries

• Provide technical leadership and guidance in your areas of expertise in Computer Vision, AI or Data Science and general software development
  

You should have:

• PhD or MS with 3y+ relevant experience in the field of computer vision, machine learning, computer science, robotics, imaging and sensing, computational photography, physics or similar fields

• Excellent communication skills, fluency in English

• Be driven, proactive and highly motivated team player with a mindset of challenging the boundaries of what is possible

• High level of curiosity, flexibility and independence

• Strong programming skills, preferably in C++ and/or Python

• Proven track record in applying Computer Vision, Machine Learning and/or deep learning algorithms to real world problems
