Senior Counsel, Antibribery and Corruption and Human Rights Program Management

In this role you will be responsible for providing governance oversight, management and continual improvement initiatives over new and existing antibribery and corruption (ABAC) and Human Rights (HuRi) integrity programs and processes, along with delivery of upskilling and training programs across ABB Businesses and Functions.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the oversight and management of ABAC and HuRi related programs and processes, including governance and continued operationalization of our Third Party Management Program and Integrity Gateway platform, which hosts our Gifts, Travel & Hospitality, Donations and Sponsorships and Conflict of Interest approval processes.
  • Act as the primary subject-matter advisor to ABB’s Legal & Integrity Service Center who provide transaction support for these aforementioned processes.
  • Support the design and continual enhancement of associated procedures and processes in collaboration with Legal & Integrity, Sustainability and Business teams to ensure ABB has “best in class” processes.
  • Support ABAC and HuRi testing strategy for implementation by the business and Internal Audit, as appropriate.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on, and drive effective implementation of, ABAC and HuRi program best practices in close collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Drive benchmarking activities on ABAC and HuRi best practices with external partners and provide continual feedback on learnings and recommendations.
  • Support the design and execution of monitoring programs to measure the effectiveness of, and test Business Area and Division compliance with, ABAC and HuRi processes.
  • Design, implement, maintain and continually develop effective communications on ABAC and HuRi programs and processes and provide appropriate training and communication materials (including face-to-face, e-learning and digital learning opportunities) on ABAC and HuRi related risks for onward transmission to Legal & Integrity, Businesses and Functions in collaboration with Legal & Integrity operations teams.
  • Guide professionals in Legal & Integrity, Sustainability and Business Areas on the application and proper execution of ABAC and HuRi processes.

Your background

  • Law Degree Masters of Law or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of private practice experience, preferably including compliance, regulatory, investigations or litigation experience
  • 2-5+ years of in-house legal and/or compliance or investigations practice experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of establishing and continually developing global integrity programs, preferably with companies that have had FCPA or other international corruption law exposure.
  • Experience of managing risks and implementing risk mitigation processes and in designing, managing or working with complex risk management processes.
  • Experience of designing and/or executing training, communication or change management initiatives.
  • Experience working on complex cross-stakeholder projects within a multijurisdictional team across cultures and time zones with an emphasis on inclusion.
  • Ability to work independently with senior management and executives.
  • Proven track record in project management and excellent communication and drafting skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good understanding of IT tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Teams.
  • Fluency in English required; other languages desired.
