Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with databases and querying (e.g., SQL, MySQL, MapReduce, etc.).


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, sales, and other teams and successfully negotiating solutions and resources.
  • Experience with fraud detection and investigations.
  • Experience in data analysis, scripting languages (i.e., Python, Javascript or TypeScript), and statistical analysis/machine learning (i.e. R).

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you’re a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will work with a variety of teams (i.e., Engineering, Legal, Public Policy, and Sales) to set policies and counter fraud and abuse in a scalable way.

A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Sales, and Legal to drive projects that increases users’ safety and provide a better online experience through Google Ads.
  • Conduct complex queries and analyses, build visual models, and construct presentations on abuse trends to aid in fraud prevention and influence change in existing abuse detection systems.
  • Identify opportunities/sources for new signals, automation, and workflow improvements.
  • Conduct investigations to catch fraudsters, enforce our product policies, learn spam patterns/trends, and identify product vulnerabilities.
  • Provide coverage periodically for issues and escalations.
