Join us and make a difference.Position SummaryThis key Global Facilities Operations (GFO) role provides strategic leadership for the Europe GEF Facilities at Moreton UK, Chester UK, Uxbridge UK, Braine l’Alleud BR and Boudry CH. This includes managing in a matrixed organization coordinating with our IFM Service Partner, Capital Engineering, Corporate EOHSS, Global Energy & Sustainability along with other Enabling Business Partners to provide high Quality, efficient Facilities Services. This role will have full P&L responsibilities for a large Facilities Budget to maintain and operate the facilities plus full accountability for delivering the capital plans that supports each sites Master Plans and client needs. The successful candidate for this exciting role will be part of the Global Facilities Operations Leadership Team and the Global Engineering & Facilities (GEF) Extended Leadership Team, defining strategic direction for the department aligned with BMS overall objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Development of Europe Sites
  • Build a vision for the Europe site culture through amenities provided and services deliver to site occupants. Supports senior leadership in developing strategies for accommodating growth and a dynamic office, manufacturing and research landscape for Commercial, GDD, PD, and GPS Ops. This includes collaborating with Global Engineering and Corporate Real Estate / Workplace Services on determining future requirements versus current capacities as part of site Master Planning.
  • Foster a strong culture of collaboration with the IFM Service Provider at the EU sites to deliver high quality Facilities Services. This includes a broad range of services from typical soft services (housekeeping, hospitality services, landscaping) to Facilities Maintenance & Utilities Operations, Security Services and various Laboratory Services.
  • Collaborate with other Global Facilities Ops Site Leads to develop internal and external capabilities needed to drive performance and elevate GFO value proposition to our key stakeholders. Refine the GFO KPI Dashboard to correctly reflect priorities and areas of transformation.
  • Continue to strengthen the relation and open communication with the local authorities. Also ensure strategic integration and communications with local community to create a positive image of the company.
  • Collaborating with site Leads and GCPM, develop the site level Capital Strategic Plans, coordinating with Global Capital Project Engineering and key site stakeholders to ensure future requirements and business needs can be met.
General & Leadership
  • Lead with a global mindset supporting both GPS and non-GPS organizations at the sites in the UK, Belgium and Switzerland plus possibly other European region locations.
  • Lead and serve as the role model for an organizational culture that embraces respect and collaboration, passion and engagement, trust, integrity and accountability, innovation and growth, quality, productivity and continuous improvement.
  • Advocates for discipline excellence by partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders to improve customer service and develop and capture industry-competitive best practices.
  • Influence enterprise-wide business decisions through the on-going leadership of the Capital review process. Willing and able to work hands-on and with a sense of urgency, in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Collaborate with the Global Capital Project Engineering team to ensure successful implementation of strategic capital investments at the Boudry and Moreton Sites.
  • Own the Capital Plan for the Sites aligning with key stakeholders and R&ED, GDD, PD, or GPS strategic direction.
  • Ensure the implementation of Global Engineering Design Standards and Process Standards including proper project documentation and turnover packages at commissioning.
  • Provide leadership to the project team to anticipate and identify complex projects issues which pose a challenge to achieving goals.
  • Drive complex communications that are efficient, effective and timely. Ensure that all customers are fully informed and knowledgeable of project activities and their status. This includes communications with BMS Executives.
  • Supervise multi-disciplinary teams of staff including maintenance, cleaning, grounds, security, often through the IFM model.
  • Manage overall OpEx budgets to ensure cost-effective service delivery
  • Assist with space planning by allocating and managing space between buildings. Drive space reconfiguration projects as needed to build capacity to meet future space needs.
  • Ensure that all Facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards.
  • Work with Corporate EOHSS to evaluate hazards and perform risk analysis building a culture of safety at all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure that staff (including short duration and temporary contracts) are properly informed on hazards.
  • Promote safe practices and behaviors, verify Corporate EOHSS Standards are implemented and respected.
  • Report immediately all incidents and near-misses through the SAFE System. Participate in and lead investigations to identify preventive measures preventing similar accidents in the future.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or a related field. MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years related experience in pharmaceutical engineering and/or facilities operations with 10 years managerial experience.
  • Strong experience in facilities technologies and infrastructures (HVAC, process, automation…).
  • Solid knowledge of GMP and FDA regulatory requirements desired
  • Solid knowledge in the validation of procedures and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage across a diverse workforce including delivering objectives through indirect (outsourced) workforce or in a matrixed organizational model.
  • Experience with Integrated Facilities Management service delivery model a plus.
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Project Management background or Yellow-Belt certification desired.
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills in a cross-functional, multi-level team environment.
  • Strong critical reasoning and decision-making skills. Ability to absorb multiple inputs in stressful situations and develop a rational plan forward. Strategy thinking and ability to work independently a must.
  • Knowledge of common Facilities Management applications and systems including BAS, CMMS, CAFM, etc. as well as Enterprise Systems such as SAP.
  • Environmental, industrial hygiene and safety regulatory knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to deal appropriately with regulatory authorities
