As Senior Director Group Tax, reporting directly into the VP Corporate Finance, you will be responsible for any tax related matters within the Sonova Group. You will implement and review Sonova’s Group Tax Strategy in alignment with international standards and trends, you will ensure compliance with local laws and regulations for a sustainable and efficient group tax rate, and you will represent the Group and GCs (Group Companies) towards national and international administrations, organizations as well as represent the GCs interests toward tax administration and in court.

Your tasks
  • Advise and define strategic tax planning
  • Educate and advise board members and internal stakeholders on tax trends
  • Monitor and support worldwide tax compliance with regards to all kinds of direct and indirect taxes and duties, e.g. CIT, VAT/GST/HST, sales taxes, business licenses, WHT, FATCA, DAC 6 TP and international requirements like Pillar 2 and 1
  • Document tax refund procedures like double taxation treaty procedures and the 7th EU VAT directive refund procedure
  • Support global HR in expatriate matters
  • Ensure a coordinated, coherent and compliant approach within the group with regards to all tax matters
  • Ensure VAT compliance with EU and US Sales Tax and support GCs with regards to VAT issues
  • Responsibility with regards to an efficient and compliant group tax structure
  • Provide proactive tax advice with regards to strategic planning of M&A transactions and post-acquisition integrations
  • Design and secure efficient profit repatriation as well as tax relevant ratios, e.g. dept to equity ratio, thin-capitalization, etc.
  • Represent the GCs and Sonova’s Group interests towards regulatory organizations, e.g. Swissholdings, IFA, ISIS, OECD, government bodies, Tax Administrations
  • Defend Sonova’s Group interests in tax audits worldwide
  • Represent GCs with tax administrations and in court in case of appeals
  • Coordinate the use of tax advisors
  • Manage a team of approximately 24 professionals globally

Your profile
  • University degree in Tax, Law and/or Finance and Accounting combined with a CPA and a degree in taxation (e.g. Swiss Federal Tax Expert)
  • >10 years of relevant working experience in big 4 consultancies and multinational enterprises
  • Knowledge of the latest tax standards and legislative trends with regards to OECD, EU and the biggest countries, where Sonova is present, as well as VAT and different indirect tax matters and duties
  • Extensive knowledge of technical aspects of corporate income taxation within Switzerland and among primary jurisdictions
  • Ability to understand and extensive knowledge of supply chain tax aspects, business model tax aspects, transfer pricing arrangements, and tax consolidation requirements
  • Proven experience in tax audits defense
  • Strategic, dynamic and proactive with sound judgement
  • Effective communication style with the ability to build constructive and effective relationships as well as the ability to balance different perspectives and to translate these into a complete picture
  • Fluent English and German skills both written and spoken, other language skills are a plus
  • Excellent MS-Office and SAP skills
