Overview

Janssen Supply Chain (JSC) is the global organization responsible for supplying medicines to markets around the world. Within the Janssen Supply Chain, Global Planning is part of Planning & Customer Management and Global Planning’s mission is to “Ensure reliable product availability to our patients by applying leading planning processes across the E2E supply chain”.

The Senior Director Planning Excellence is responsible to Shape, standardize and strengthen Planning processes by identifying appropriate internal and external best practices to develop strategic plans and meet the needs of Janssen Supply Chain PCM globally. The Senior Director is leading a portfolio of large Global Plan Programs and initiatives, with a focus on advancing Planning Capabilities, enabling growth, improving Customer Experience, and driving E2E Supply Chain efficiencies.

The Core Focus Areas Are
  • Setting the Planning strategy, defining the objectives and the roadmap and ensuring the timely execution through effective change management
  • Deploying leading-edge technologies supporting all modalities to the Planning organization by leading projects and ensuring consistency of the end-to-end solutions
  • Realizing value by process standardization and improvement, in partnership with other functional Excellence teams and by integration across all Planning areas
  • Leading Digital Synchronized Planning and Innovation, including Analytics & Insights jointly with the Business, IT, JSC Digital and other Innovation partners
  • Training and coaching Planning employees to ensure sustainable process execution with advanced technologies and by leveraging Communities of Practice

The Senior Director Planning Excellence Has The Following Accountabilities
  • Has the overall accountability to develop and execute the planning strategy for PCM in alignment with the overall JSC strategy.
  • Champions change management practices to ensure effective implementation and integration of process improvement initiatives.and ensures clear communication of PCM activities and results.
  • Maintains the investment budget in collaboration with finance and manages the portfolio of Plan projects, working cross-functionally to prioritize resources and mitigate risk.
  • Advances Planning Capabilities (people, process, technology) across PCM, prioritizing and leading areas that will enable growth, improve Customer Experience, and drive E2E Supply Chain efficiencies.
  • Standardizes and improves planning processes and introduces new processes based on their functional expertise, external best practices, and Planning standards.
  • Collaborates with Enterprise Planning, MedTech Planning Excellence, Supply Chain IT, and digital teams to prioritize Plan technology roadmap for PCM.
  • Broadly accountable for improving and maintaining Planner capabilities and skills. Directs creation of training plans and works closely with Plan leaders to implement training programs.
  • Sets-up a robust infrastructure to support ongoing process governance and integrity, reporting, and data accuracy.
  • Accountable for the regular measurement of process compliance.
  • Owns overall planning analytics; ensures a consistent set of tools are utilized to improve key supply chain metrics and support business decisions.
  • Owns the digital domain Synchronized Planning and works with the other domains to ensure PCM’s requirements are met.
  • Leads cross-sector initiatives within Region and/or Global networks
  • Member of the Global Planning leadership team and the digital domain governance.

This leader will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders and support the peers in the planning organization to become more efficient and effective.

Qualifications

Education:

A minimum of a bachelor’s/university degree is required and advanced degree preferred (master/PhD).

Experience

15+ years of related experience in manufacturing, planning and/or supply chain management for health care industry required. A minimum of 5 years people management/supervisory experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Strategic perspective and ability to integrate vision across multiple functions
  • Proven business acumen in the area of Supply Chain, Commercial and financials
  • Clear understanding of external Supply Chain trends
  • Strong partnering and understanding of Planning support needs of the Enterprise and Sectors
  • Ability to embed a culture of harmonization and process improvement and value creation
  • Collaborates effectively to achieve performance improvement
  • Experience with several of the following processes including master production schedule process, inventory management, supply chain management, scenario analysis, change control, sales and operations planning, Planning Systems (e.g. SAP, OMP) and other cross-functional business processes common to the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry
  • Establishes effective communications and common goals and objectives
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, excellent communication and presentation skills. Strength in interdependent partnering and team management.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and work in a matrix environment where priorities change rapidly and tight deadlines exist. Ability to partner with and influence others without direct authority; build consensus and look for collaboration with people from different departments and all levels
  • Serves as a role model for Credo based decision making
