Senior GNSS Systems Engineer

As a Senior GNSS Systems Engineer at u-blox you are responsible for the heart of u-blox’s cutting edge positioning devices. With your experience and in-depth knowledge in the domain of GNSS navigation and in system engineering you are the expert for discovering and managing the technical specification of the positioning functionality. You are familiar with navigation, technical design and requirements documentation. Capitalizing on your profound skills in software engineering and system engineering, you efficiently mentor a team of motivated engineers to discover and refine the technical specification of the navigation firmware of an embedded GNSS real-time system. You feel responsible for testability, documentation, quality control and maintenance of the specification and you coordinate the support to our stakeholders in assessing and capturing requirements. You also contribute to the design and implementation of the firmware. You are able to lead the draft of new technical concepts, evaluate their feasibility and derive specifications. As a part of our international multi-site team of specialized software developers you contribute to the next generation of u-blox’s innovative and competitive positioning systems.

The position is based in Thalwil.

Responsibilites

  • Leadership in the technical discipline of system engineering
  • Manage stakeholders such as internal development peers and customer contacts, as well as network with the relevant field in the industry
  • Design, implementation and testing of the GNSS firmware
  • Lead the capturing of requirements and technical specification
  • Quality control and error analysis

Your Skills and Experience

  • MS in software engineering, or system engineering
  • Experience in agile development
  • Sound standing knowledge and years of experience in GNSS technology and related technologies
  • Navigation algorithms
  • Computer science algorithms and data structures
  • Profound scientific and engineering skills
  • Problem solving
  • Requirements and systems engineering
  • Verification and validation
  • Data analysis and statistics
  • Knowledge in the following areas is a plus:
  • Embedded software development
  • Digital signal processing and satellite communications
  • Programming languages and tools:
  • C, C++, Perl, Python
  • Git, Subversion or other version control software
  • Eclipse, MS Visual Studio Code or similar development environment
  • Ability to work as a member of bigger projects. Flexible team player.
  • Good communication skills (oral and in writing) in English and corresponding local language
  • Swiss national or EU national with international experience back-ground
