Ridgeline Discovery, a Versant Ventures Discovery Engine, creates and operates Versant-financed innovative biotech companies in partnership with entrepreneurs, industry, and leading academics across Europe. In recent years, Ridgeline has assembled an international team of >45 highly experienced drug discovery professionals and built and operated several new successful companies, including Black Diamond Therapeutics (NASDAQ: BDTX), Bright Peak Therapeutics and Monte Rosa Therapeutics (NASDAQ: GLUE). Ridgeline is currently expanding its capabilities in Basel to support further company creation efforts in small molecules, biologics, and gene/cell therapy with focus on oncology and immunology.

Responsibilities

Ridgeline is currently expanding its capabilities in Basel to support further company creation efforts in biologics with focus on oncology. To this purpose, we are hiring a Research Associate with expertise in Cancer Cell Biology. In this role you will contribute to the development of new biotech companies by developing and conducting cell-based assays for target-based screening to support the drug discovery team. Your role will be comprised of:
  • Tissue culture of mammalian cancer cell lines
  • Cell viability and cell death assays
  • Assessing cell surface markers as well as secreted proteins using FACS
  • Assessing protein expression and mRNA expression by Western Blot respectively RT-qPCR
  • Transduce cells using electroporation and lentiviral infection
  • Cellular signaling assessment using reporter cells, ELISAs, HTRF, BRET, etc.
  • Developing novel and state of the art multi-cell assay formats
  • Responsible for design, plan and execution of the above-mentioned experiments
  • Trouble shooting
  • Maintain excellent documentation for lab books and present results in internal meetings
Qualifications

You are a highly motivated and independent individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is effective at working in a collaborative and diverse environment.
  • Laboratory apprenticeship from a major pharmaceutical company or MS degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, biology, or a related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in biotech or industry
  • Experience in conducting, analyzing, and documenting experiments
  • Proficient at a range of molecular biology techniques including but not limited to DNA/RNA extraction, Western blot, ELISAs and PCR based analysis
  • Experience with cell culture techniques with cancer cell lines
  • Experience with high-capacity cell-based assays using multichannel pipets and routine assays for development of a therapeutic
  • Know-how in experimental design and data evaluation and ability to work independently
  • Familiar with Microsoft office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Graphpad Prism data analysis software
  • Able to work in a highly flexible environment
  • Good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
