Ridgeline Discovery, a Versant Ventures Discovery Engine, creates and operates Versant-financed innovative biotech companies in partnership with entrepreneurs, industry, and leading academics across Europe. In recent years, Ridgeline has assembled an international team of >50 highly experienced drug discovery professionals and built and operated several new successful companies, including Black Diamond Therapeutics (NASDAQ: BDTX), Bright Peak Therapeutics and Monte Rosa Therapeutics (NASDAQ: GLUE). Ridgeline is currently expanding its capabilities in Basel to support further company creation efforts in small molecules, biologics, and gene/cell therapy with focus on oncology and immunology.

Ridgeline is currently expanding its capabilities in Basel to support further company creation in small molecules research. To this purpose, we are hiring a (Senior) Scientist with expertise in Synthetic and Medicinal Chemistry. In this role, you will contribute to the advancement of innovative therapies by contributing to the design of novel small molecules, optimizing their synthetic availability working closely with our CROs generating and interpreting scientific data in a highly open and collaborative environment. Versatility and experience in protein chemistry is a definite plus.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the collaboration with our synthetic chemistry CROs to optimize our synthetic efficiency, track progress and independently supervise the logistics of shipping/testing small molecules.
  • Support the medicinal chemistry of on-going projects through innovative designs based on data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ad-hoc support for lab-based operations.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure the efficient relay of information and forward translation of data.
  • Maintain and grow scientific knowledge and technical skills through scientific literature.

Qualifications
  • PhD or equivalent industrial experience in Synthetic/Medicinal Chemistry.
  • Track record of publications/patents.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills in synthetic chemistry.
  • Experience beyond small molecules (e.g. peptide chemistry and conjugation) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to design experiments, analyze, and interpret results.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated with desire and ability to learn and integrate new techniques and skills in drug design/synthetic chemistry.
  • Comfortable to multi-task, and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
