TotalEnergies installed its European trading hub across in Geneva, which now bring together very large teams around trading activities : TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping (T&S) and TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP).

T &S is a trading company in charge of all physical trading and shipping of crude oil and refined products on behalf of the TotalEnergies Company. It has been an active participant all over the supply chain as well as on the derivatives paper market in order to manage the market risk for a long time.

What you will do

As a Senior Shipping Accountant, you will report to the Accounting Manager within the Trading & Shipping financial team and will be responsible for the accounting of 3 shipping and trading companies with a combined turnover of up to 2 billion dollars.
You will manage a team of 2 accountants, and deal with Swiss & French accounting, and tax issues: Volume of 23,000 invoices processed.
You will work with Shipping and Trading Operations, Treasury, TotalEnergies accounting departments, and external auditors
In that context, your main responsibilities will be the following:
  • Lead and motivate a team of 2 people, organizing their work by setting goals and monitoring their achievements.
  • Supervise, while respecting the Company deadlines and procedures:
    • the monthly closing including FX analysis
    • quarterly closing including intercos, entries in consolidation tool, reconciliation with reporting, banking reconciliation
    • annual closing including statutory accounts for 3 legal entities (French and swiss GAAP) and accounting brochures, tax reporting, transfer price, tele-declarations and telepayments to the DGE (VAT, IS, CVAE ...))
  • Manage tax audits with the support of the tax department.
  • Ensure the follow-up and drafting of internal procedures in his/her department and ensures the continuity of the service.
  • Respond to any requests from external and internal auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure the consistency of accounting data with information established by management control.
  • Propose and participate in the evolution of IT systems in order to respond to regulatory changes or in order to seek better efficiency
Your environment
  • The accounting closing periods (especially quarterly) result in significant workloads in short periods of time.
  • Work closely with T&S ’s financial and shipping teams in Geneva and the Company’s Tax, Consolidation and Legal Departments.
  • SOX-controlled activities with internal control implications

Candidate profile

  • You have a Degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • You have good English and French verbal and writing skills
  • You have strong analytical skills, a good team spirit, and a great ability to communicate.
  • Details orientation, organisation and rigour, are essential for this position.
  • Good mastery of computer tools.
