D&C Technology is a functional unit that supports Alpiq’s Business Area Digital & Commerce with management systems for the trading, origination and energy sales businesses, including the delivery of digital solutions for customers from the industrial, commerce and energy sectors.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will be a key member of D&C, delivering value to the business in the form of IT Products, Components, and DevOps. You will work closely with your team in the form of sprints and expert groups covering your key skills. Your Main Responsibilities
  • Complete software solutions matching business specifications provided by Requirements Engineers.
  • Be able to understand, improve and implement algorithms required for the core business of D&C.
  • Follow the software development lifecycle, instructions from Managing Software Engineers and best practices within the development team.
  • Produce high quality and timely documentation. Inspect documentation of others to ensure quality is being met.
  • Implement solutions runnable with best practices in a cloud architecture.
Your Qualifications
  • University degree in Computer Science or other numerical discipline. Industrial experience of between 5 to 8 years in Software Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with more junior members and mentor them to improve their contributions as a team member.
  • Ability to demonstrate depth of understanding of one or more of the languages used in D&C, notably; Java, Javascript / Typescript, Python, C#, C++. Ideally you will hold certification in your main language.
  • Ability to use a range of relational and non-relational database. Providing optimal solutions for the problem domain.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand a wide range of data structures and related algorithms for manipulating those structures. Ideally be able to follow and understand complex areas such as machine learning.
  • Proficient in English
