JOB PURPOSEBased in the Company’s Geneva headquarters, the Global Media Relations Senior Specialist, together with in-market communications teams, will manage and deliver ongoing support across global media activities with consumer and trade media. Reporting into the VP Consumer PR & Global Media relations, this role will help increase global consumer and trade-facing brand awareness through media, as MSC Cruises the world’s third largest cruise brand, continues to grow and expand.
We are looking for a hands-on, experienced media relations professional with a proven track record of building strong relationships with a broad cross section of the media but with a particular strength lying in consumer media. The successful candidate is someone who will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced international organisation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Works with the VP Consumer PR & Global Media Relations to implement the global media relations strategy (including building brand strength, promoting product and marketing campaigns) by translating the business goals into communications strategies and programmes;
• Builds and nurtures close relationships with key journalists alongside in-market PR teams and agencies, to pitch and cultivate story developments;
• Works closely to support Countries in their PR efforts to ensure consistency, share best practice and implement global processes;
• Plays a key role in the planning and delivery of press trips and Corporate events;
• Assists in writing and editing global press releases, talking points, presentations, scripts, facts sheets as well as the development of media assets such as photography and video;
• Supports on the integration with Marketing and Sales teams for consumer and trade activations;
• Monitors results of activities against set KPI’s and generate reports to share with the wider business.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Native-level English with French or another European language is an advantage;
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master level is an advantage;
• At least 5+ years of relevant media relations experience either in an agency or in-house, ideally also in either a local subsidiary of a global organization publicly traded or privately-owned organization;
• Demonstrate a track record of having supported and contributed to the successful delivery of media relations activations, building differentiated positioning for high-profile brands, ideally in a highly-competitive business environment;
• Independent, self-starter, action and result oriented media relations professional;
• First-class written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills;
• Solutions-oriented approach to tasks with the ability to use initiative to problem-solve;
• Keen attention to detail with a critical thinking mindset;
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly of PowerPoint and Excel;
• Experience with TV series/documentary production is an advantage;
• Experience in the travel or hospitality sector is an advantage;
• Willingness to travel frequently for events and press trips.
VISA REQUIREMENTS
Right to work in Switzerland.
