As a R&D Specialist in Carbohydrates, you will be a good team player, demonstrate excellent service orientation and communication skills, you will be executing projects (or activities within projects) requiring application, modification, functionalization and characterization of carbohydrates and will be providing scientific and technical support to other Nestlé entities within R&D.

A Day in the Life of a R&D Specialist in Carbohydrates

Contribute to/lead multidisciplinary projects related to food and carbohydrate chemistry, nutritional and physicochemical functionality with emphasis on polysaccharides from cereals, fruits, vegetables, pulses and agricultural side streams

Work in collaboration with a team of chemists, biochemists, physicists, food technologists, nutrition scientists and physiologists

Generate IP on carbohydrate science, with emphasis on plant polysaccharides, that is relevant to Nestlé processes and products

Project management and interactions with external companies/universities.

Develop and maintain scientific expertise in the field through impactful publications and presentations.

Ensure End to End project management and client-oriented Project Transfer are within timelines and planned costs

What Will Make You Successful
  • PhD in food chemistry, biochemistry, physics or food science applied to carbohydrates
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity, and passion to drive innovation by applying scientific knowledge in a pragmatic manner
  • Excellent knowledge in carbohydrates science
  • Combined with 2-4 years experience in industry or academia
  • Strong “hands-on” experience in polysaccharide chemistry/physics, cereal, and global knowledge on cereals, fruits, vegetables, pulses and agricultural side streams processing would be a plus
  • Experience in setting up research projects, building collaborations with external scientific partners and/or project management will be considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
