The Nutrition Sciences department, one of the six research departments in Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences, focuses on the nutrition and diets of our consumers in relation to health and well-being. We aim to develop nutritional solutions at product and diet levels, as well as services to improve specific nutritional needs and/or health benefits relevant to different target populations. To achieve this, we study food intakes around the world, and combined with an in-depth knowledge of nutrition for specific health benefits (e.g., metabolic health, mobility, growth, etc.), and we design innovative nutritional concepts to improve our products and help our consumers reach a balanced diet. We work in close collaboration with the other departments of the Institute of Health Sciences, as well as with colleagues from the different Nestlé Research institutes and our business partners.

A day in the life of a Specialist in Nutrient Profiling
  • Lead scientific research activities related to nutrient profiling in order to evolve and strengthen Nestlé Nutrient Profiling System (NNPS)
  • Define nutrition criteria & recommendations for product innovation / renovation across product categories and different age groups, in the context of a balanced diet
  • Develop methodologies to assess the role of product categories in balanced diets, according to individual’s nutritional status and dietary preferences (personalization)
  • Collaborate with the wider Nestlé R&D community by providing expertise on nutrition-related topics.
  • Translate scientific ideas & results into consumer-appealing concepts and business-oriented simple messages to drive impactful innovation
  • Develop external network of academic partners
  • Lead scientific outputs including publications, conference presentations, and patents

What Will Make You Successful
  • Advanced degree (PhD) in Nutrition Science or related subjects with 5+ years of nutrition research experience
  • Strong expertise in nutrient profiling science and its application on product (re)formulation to drive innovation and renovation of products
  • Ability to see the bigger picture, bring creativity and new ideas and drive consumer products, services, and communication opportunities
  • Confident in leading projects in a matrix environment and collaborating with internal and external scientific communities
  • Strong collaborative spirit, ability to find consensus and bring a pragmatic approach
  • Excellent written and oral presentation & communication skills in English (scientific and non-scientific audiences), ability to adapt messages to different target audiences
