Senior Manager Global Distribution Planning, Spine

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the global distribution planning process for the Spine Platform from the primary/secondary global hubs to downstream regional nodes in NA, EMEA, ASPAC and Latam to improve service at optimal inventory levels. The Spine platform has approximately 28,000 Finished Good SKUs (instruments/implants) manufactured at Jabil and external suppliers and supplied to global hubs. The distribution from the global hubs to the regions will be led by this leader & team.

The role will report into the Global Planning Spine and Mitek Leader and will partner closely with the Global Planning Leaders & teams, Regional Supply Chain teams, Deliver business partners and E2E Supply Chain leader/Value Stream Leaders to ensure that distribution plans are consistent with platform objectives and performance targets.

This leader will be responsible for building a groundbreaking distribution planning capability in alignment with the Supply Chain Planning strategy for DPS. Critical to building these new capabilities will be maturing foundational capabilities in the core planning systems and ERP systems and evolving the planning process from a functional focus to an end-to-end value stream focus with an accelerated evolution towards sophisticated analytics and autonomous planning capabilities.

This position will manage a team of around 5 people. A key area of accountability will be developing the talent and capabilities to deliver on the overall objectives for the Planning function and the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading the day-to-day distribution Planning activities for the Spine portfolio of products to meet Spine service levels, global inventory optimization and agility objectives
  • Translate constrained supply plans into constrained distribution plans, presenting the distribution plan feedback, allocation of inventory in line with allocation guideline, order management and handover to Deliver for global Distribution Centers
  • Lead and mentor diverse talent
  • Act as a liaison between Regional Supply Chain Planning teams & Global Plan for short term exception management and systemic supply issues to improve supply reliability and customer satisfaction/service
  • The design, operation, and continued improvement of the distribution planning process
  • Support the Spine IBP process by leading the Spine distribution plan in IBP with strong connect into Deliver
  • Execution of the process so that product is deployed and available at the right place, in the right quantities and at the right time to service our customers
  • Own and drive key supply chain plan-related performance metrics including Service, Backorders, Set Deployments, Inventory, DRP Attainment, Excess & Obsolete and team efficiency metrics, incl costs per SKU planned
  • Support base entitlement (stock build & level, deployment logics, FIFO, fair share) & define non-base entitlement based on defined guidelines and processes (supply commit, shortage, NPI for pre-markets, allocation opportunity, exclusion management)
  • Provide Supply Chain and Commercial leadership with timely reports that inform about service, product availability issues and mitigation actions
  • Periodically evaluate planning system parameters & settings that influence Distribution Requirements Planning, service and inventory targets
  • Ensure Planning process alignment with the Supply Chain Planning blueprint and own blueprint for DRP process improvement, with the objective of moving towards autonomous planning, supported by advanced analytical capabilities.
  • Support the evolution of the Planning blueprint for the future based on functional expertise, experiences, and insights.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) representing the department and planning processes in various projects

Qualifications

Education
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field is required
  • An advanced degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience is preferred

Skills And Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or similarly complex, regulatory dependent Supply Chain environment and proven leadership track record in Supply Chain Planning
  • Ability to lead, inspire and grow diverse talent in a complex landscape
  • Experience working in a matrix organization and achieving results through collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity, influence and gain cross-functional support to deliver the strategy and objectives
  • Ability to drive operational improvement using process excellence tools

Preferred
  • APICS / CSCP / LEAN / Six Sigma certifications
  • Exposure to a global environment in previous roles
  • Excellent understanding of ERP systems (SAP/JDE), experience with advanced planning tools (OMP/Kinaxis/APO) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Access, Tableau and/or Alteryx
