Job Description

Position: Sr. Manager, SOMA/AI

Department: R&D

Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt

The following is not intended to represent an all-inclusive list of job responsibilities, but to outline the ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of the position.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide overall day-to-day technical and managerial guidance and direction to direct reports and overall team local and remote working on SOMA and AI T&E. Team to initially consist of 15 members located in Brest, France, and Kiel, Germany. These team members consist of senior individual contributors and a current people manager.
  • Provide technical leadership, oversight and direct support for all SOMA.AI and deliveries, and coordinate with data experts and Data engineers across the organization.
  • Support the development, validation and documentation of SOMA tools and AI features/capabilities into Digital T&E product offerings.
  • Work with the our surgeons, business partners and technical experts in driving and formulating global overall strategy, defining requirements, and evaluating capabilities, in developing and broadening SOMA.AI.
  • Assist in Data strategic planning and establishing external strategic relationships with potential partners, customers, and collaborators for Data collection and Data mining.
  • Apply SOMA.AI technical expertise in structuring Data support objectives, plans (scope, cost, schedule, resource) for on-going support efforts and strategic studies.
  • Lead and drive our segmentation automation streatgy for Foot & Ankle, Upper Extremities, and Trauma. Collaborate with DRE and applicable SYK R&D to facilitate a scalable solution, eventually to be leveraged across SYK.

What You Need To Be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate technical discipline
  • A minimum of 12 years relevant experience that includes Roadmap definition and technical leadership in AI and Data science, V&V and SaMD.
  • Demonstrated technical acumen in planning, executing and managing tactical and technical complexe plans in support of business goals and objectives, including planning managing scope, cost, schedule, resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and releasing AI-Driven SaMD with good knowledge of the regulatory approval strategy of AI features.
  • Previous technical experience in AI, data analytics, and Deep Learning applied in computer aided surgery (planning, guidance, clinical outcomes).
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across different levels of customers, contractors and corporate staff.
  • Demonstrated initiative, independent action, mature judgment, outstanding verbal and written communications skills, excellent liaison and coordination capabilities, effective teaming skills, and ability to interact effectively with all levels of Stryker and contractor personnel.
  • Experience with developing strategic plans that transition the leadership, workforce, product lines and assets for our civil customers.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

How You Can Stand Out
  • Demonstrated experience in hiring, developing and managing qualified staff.
  • Advanced Degree in an Data Science and AI from a recognized institution
  • Supervisory experience managing technical staff, broad experience across the program life cycle, and experience working with senior level customers.
  • Experience working within software engineering environment.
  • Experience in developing and delivering research and study proposals for grants and related solicitations.
