Your ’day to day’

As a Scientist / Engineer you will be a part of the Consumable and Process Technology group, accountable for the development of new components and materials for different types of smoke-free products.

You will be involved in various activities and projects, asked to develop new materials and product functionalities, solve various scientific and technical challenges, find solutions, and improve the quality and performance. You will have to use your creativity and resourcefulness to find solutions as much as you can.

You will work in a team, lead and manage your own projects, but also support others by sharing your knowledge and experiences. You will have full freedom to prioritize your work with full accountability for the results. We expect you to take ownership in everything you do and accomplish your goals and targets in an efficient and timely way.

More specifically, you will
  • Work on the development of new materials and components, experimenting and testing, analyzing the data and finding solutions
  • Plan, coordinate and implement various development activities, collect, and analyze data, understand the interactions, and propose a way forward until goals are achieved. Apply your DoE and analytical skills to complete your experiments and scientifically robust results.
  • Prepare your trial and experimental reports, consolidate the data, and apply the highest scientific standards to your work
  • As you your solutions are getting developed, you will have the chance to support the industrialization and be part of the activities to bring new products and materials from development to large-scale manufacturing. One day you will be in the lab experimenting and next day you may be watching one of your developments used in the commercial production.
  • Interact with your colleagues inside the PMI and but also with external partners sharing new insights and finding solutions. You will guide and advise your partners during the development to achieve the results and manage the priorities.
  • As a subject matter expert, you will interact and connect with different levels of management within PMI, share your work, give status updates and provide recommendations
  • Apply company IP strategies for new product design and materials, where your ideas will be safeguarded, you will become an inventor
Who we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, Physics or equivalent
  • Meaningful relevant experience in research and material development is plus
  • Someone with creative mindset, pragmatic, always looking for solutions and opportunities, ready to take a challenge, never give up
  • A person that is curious, exploring, agile and not late to take the lead
  • Somebody that can work independently with low supervision, not afraid to take decisions and responsibility
  • Someone willing to learn, explore and try to do things differently and sometimes fail
  • Highly developed communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Familiarity with tobacco, food or pharmaceutical industry is plus
  • Ability to solve problems, think outside of the box when needed but also have capability to understand the context and sometime see the big picture
  • Team collaboration in cross-functional projects and implementing sophisticated design of experiments supported by statistical data processing would be appreciated
  • Proficiency in English, French is an asset
