Your ’day to day’

As a Scientist / Engineer you will be a part of Consumable and Process Technology group, accountable for the development of the new products and the integration of their various components such as consumable, device and materials in a smoking system. You will also be accountable for continuous improvements of performance of existing products with focus on technical solutions according to performance, design and manufacturability constraints.

In close collaboration with internal and external partners you will define and characterize product and material requirements through prototyping and experimentations. In addition, you will build knowledge on the critical attributes and participate in product industrialization. Furthermore, you will continuously look for opportunities to improve the performance of the product and materials, working towards PMI productivity and sustainability targets.

More specifically, you will
  • Manage research and product development activities
  • Plan and implement development activities, collect and provide evidence and data regarding product performance by crafting experimental plans using “Design of Experiment (DoE)” principles and coordinate their execution by providing clear instruction to internal and external partners
  • Perform detailed risk assessment to support the industrialization of new products and materials from laboratory to commercial scale
  • Create design documents and reports, ensure that supporting data are generated, consolidated and reviewed in line with scientific standard methodologies
  • Prepare and present clear recommendations to partners and management in order to enable efficient decision making and funnel further research and development stages
  • Ensure compliance with quality & regulatory requirements, and company policies to enable an effective and continuous product development process
  • Identify and define technical requirements and establish partnerships with external suppliers / services to support product development
  • Apply company IP strategies for new product design and materials
Who we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, Physics or equivalent
  • Meaningful relevant experience in research and development is plus
  • Familiarity with tobacco, food or pharmaceutical industry is plus
  • Consistent track record in problem solving, team collaboration in cross-functional projects and implementing sophisticated design of experiments supported by statistical data processing would be appreciated
  • Creative mindset, pragmatic, always looking for solutions and opportunities, ready to take a challenge
  • Curious, agile, able to work independently with low supervision, not afraid to take decisions and responsibility
  • Highly developed communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency in English, French is an asset
