20%, Zurich, fixed-termThe Extracellular Matrix Regeneration Laboratory of Prof. Dr. Collin Ewald, Institute of Translational Medicine at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic research team for assistance with preparing lab utilities and organizational tasks.
The research topics of our group aim to determine the molecular mechanism(s) that prolong health during aging, using the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans , in order to develop novel strategies to treat age-related pathologies.
Job Description
Tasks and competencies involve laboratory work which may be modified to meet specific needs.
Main Responsibilities Include
- Making common lab solutions and agar plates (e.g., NGM, LB)
- Executing lab duties to keep the lab running smoothly (e.g., preparing sterilization of lab glass and utilise)
- Maintaining lab equipment
- Stocking lab supplies
- Assisting in managing the bio bank (plasmid, Bacteria, C.elegans)
- Operating cryopreservation technique
- Maintaining strains (Bacteria, C.elegans)
- Performing molecular biological methods (e.g., PCR, plasmid isolation, transformation)
- Supporting the laboratory management
A Successful Candidate Should Bring Along
- An immatriculation at a university (study programs with a biological focus are preferred) is required
- Experience in lab work (e.g., in the areas of molecular biology and microbiology) is beneficial
- High level of initiative and motivation
- Excellent communication, time management and record-keeping skills
- Competency to work independently and within a team
- Capability for creativity and solving problems
- Knowledge of oral and written English are mandatory, German is a plus
