JOB PURPOSE

The Theatrical Production Director is the primary visionary behind theatrical production, shaping every aspect of the final performance. Overseeing the broad budget and schedule of a theatrical production to provide best-in-class shows and experiences for our international guests onboard.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Create new concepts and influence the entire creative production process;

• Prepare and manage theatre production budgets for external partners;

• Manage the complexity of simultaneous productions in multiple global locations;

• Introduce global trends to the different types of theatres onboard of our 20+ vessels;

• Negotiate with partners to create theatrical productions that can adapt to the distinctive tastes of our customers in geographical areas when our ships are sail;

• Lead complex projects through thorough time and financial planning;

• Utilise industry contacts and networks around the world to maximise the talent pool;

• Scout technical equipment and modern trends in the global theatrical landscape to introduce innovation onboard;

• Support the entertainment department efficiencies and ensure safe ways or working;

• Create standard procedures in line with industry best practices;

• Open links between performing arts campus’ in Europe, US, UK & other performance hubs;

• The first point of contact with our ship’s performance team, fostering a positive, creative working environment;

• Support the production companies and the ship with any issues that may arise around theatrical productions.


QUALIFICATIONS

• 15+ years’ experience in the cruise and theatrical industry, must have covered roles such as Performer, Choreographer, Producer and Show Manager;

• 15+ years’ experience in the entertainment business with customers from all over the world, particularly: USA, South America, China & Japan, and Europe;

• 15+ years’ experience in theatre production, talent scouting, casting, creative direction, and choreography;

• English mother tongue. Any other language an advantage;

• Computer literate in Microsoft/Adobe/MOS;

• Diploma/Degree in Theatre Production, Music, Performing Arts or equivalent;

• In-depth knowledge of international/mixed nationality audiences;

• Extensive experience in the theatre industry;

• Excellent project management skills;

• Flexible problem-solver.


VISA REQUIREMENTS

EU passport or work permit for CH.
